I guess the liberal mind prison is hard to leave if you're really in love with twitter attention, need to build a brand out of your face and words, or if you're just a narcissist who believes in nothing. Maybe all those are the same thing, idk.

Twitter fame and a boost to her “intimacy doula” brand. Legitimately don’t know if intimacy doula is sex work or like telling people what they should do when they have sex, possibly over zoom.

This is the first time I have encountered the term doula and so it is a birth companion. So who is the intimacy doula here? The author of the book or the tweet. Cos if it is the latter then I suddenly understand, we are talking about grift in the face of widespread alienation. That I understand

Kinda confused on if the tweeter wrote the book or read the book, but the comments seem to be mostly ladies whose idea of proper masculinity is just "sugar daddy". It feels like women trying to convince themselves its ok to be an escort/have an onlyfans/etc. I think it is ok to do those things, but it might not be healthy to convince yourself that you're just doing the exact same thing as every woman who dates men.

It’s just someone trying to become the main character of the day, thinking she’ll be the first one to manage to ride that tiger. She doesn’t believe any of that and may not believe anything at all, except that she should be making bank with her boutique astrology and sex doula businesses. Twitter is best understood as a rhetorical mode rather than a sequence of claims that can be understood and investigated.

christmas boots posted:I think I get it, but it might also have been a stroke. People on twitter don’t actually mean what they say, but rather use things and events as an occasion to adopt a certain rhetorical posture that is some combination of strident, patronizing, moralistic, dismissive, and contemptuous. It doesn’t matter what’s being discussed or what might be true, but only what a person can do with the subject rhetorically. The purest distillation of that is a form like “all the hot takes about [x] show that a lot of you have never [y] and it shows.” Or “you might be surprised by [x], but all of us who have been through/are [y] know all about it and have been trying to tell you for years.” Maybe the simplest version is “you might think [x], but it’s obviously [y] and you can’t see that because [x] is wrong with you.” And I don’t mean that people on twitter are insincere or lying. Twitter is just a thing that makes you participate under certain conditions when you post there. That sex doula is probably a perfectly normal person when she’s not on twitter.

so apparently that isn't even the main theme of the bookquote:“Does anyone date anymore?” Today, the authorities tell us that courtship is in crisis. But when Moira Weigel dives into the history of sex and romance in modern America, she discovers that authorities have always said this. Ever since young men and women started to go out together, older generations have scolded them: That’s not the way to find true love. The first women who made dates with strangers were often arrested for prostitution; long before “hookup culture,” there were “petting parties”; before parents worried about cell phone apps, they fretted about joyrides and “parking.” Dating is always dying. But this does not mean that love is dead. It simply changes with the economy. Dating is, and always has been, tied to work. this is some pretty straight forward marxist influenced writing.

anyhow, i don't have twitter or much troll game, but for someone with both there's a lot of fun to be had telling them they can just say they want the man to pay for dinner and they don't have to feel like they're betraying past generations of feminists e: depending on how much cringe you're willing to post for the sake of trolling, there's also the incredibly ugly "he's paid for it now so you're obligated" line of reasoning which follows from this Hodgepodge has issued a correction as of 04:38 on Jun 15, 2021 |

Liberals have completely bought into the capitalist narrative and are taking it to its logical conclusion not realising how completely loving deranged it makes them to discard the masks of humanity that normal people need to function Basically what happens when you believe you just need to change humanity to better navigate the system rather than admit it is the system that has problems

The future is sex work becoming the normal way to pay for student loans, to learn how consent isn't always consent unless money is involved. Or perhaps it's just a few weird edgelords.

It rules how much of incel theory is in mainstream relationship advice now. The difference in how it's sold to it's audience comes from whether or not the author is personally getting laid.
