Her melancholy songs are always amazing for sure. The sort of triplet feel isn't something you get too often in kpop stuff so its a nice way to spice up the feel without raising the volume/range.

I have no idea what Soyeon's release will sound like, it'll be interesting. Wonder if we'll get a solo thing from Minnie as well before their next group comeback, since she's the other one who has been doing writing stuff for their b-sides. I really wish Sera had been part of the stage, but for whatever reason they decided to go with the members who were in the final lineup before the Nine Muses A girls were the only ones left. A real shame too since both of the songs being voted on to perform (Dolls and News) were from when Sera was still part of the group, and Sera's voice in Dolls in particular is iconic asf. I wouldn't be surprised if it was out of the control of the girls who did reunite for the stage, though. I'm pretty sure Star Empire still owns the Nine Muses name and discography, so it may not have even been up to the members at all.

Pink Fantasy hasn't had a release that has really grabbed me yet, we'll see if this next one does or not. This pre-release dance track is pretty good, and I notice that its choreographer is MOTF (who did pixy's stuff, I'm not sure what else). It means skirt blowing in the wind or something similar. The English version is really good too, and I’m glad they didn’t translate that line in it. The whole mini is great, Pool Party is also getting an MV and Summer by Myself is a really good 90s jam.

as a newbie with still developing particular tastes, that brave girls falls super flat for me in every aspect but the one where i loving love choruses where they have extended dance lines with like 30 people. It's still a good tune but i'll wait for more I do love the summer bop vibes of kpop it seems like everybody puts out happy palm tree and sunshine videos this time of year, instead of winter where they're all crying blood and wearing tim burton costume department dresses (which i love tbf)

The title track isn't really hitting with me, either. They performed Pool Party as well last night on M Countdown and I like that one quite a bit more, though it's still not something that would find its way into any of my playlists. I'll probably get around to the rest of the mini album at some point this week. Glad they're doing well, though!

There are some references to other songs and stuff that always feels a touch cringy to me, but in this sort of situation it'd be sort of weird if they didn't? For me a summer song is never going to grab me by the neck but I think if I was making a summer party playlist this'd make its way onto it. Probably the twice track as well, though in terms of a sort of summer song I think dance the night away was a ton better than alcohol free.

Yeah, this was basically a guaranteed success as long as it had the Brave sound and their voices (and was upbeat). They are that group in Korea right now. I think they've brought a lot of older gen folks back to kpop or at least back to that style. For reference, the Rollin ep sold less than 1100 copies originally, and this is already over 100k by some estimates. I don't think it's the ear worm of Rollin and the first part of the chorus goes too long, but it's a catchy melody and fun beat and the most importantly the sound people are craving right now. The callbacks are kinda a thing in Kpop in general, but this one especially because it was fanservice for Rollin' and the salute in the choreo for the army guys that started the whole thing, etc, which is cute and sweet.
