Refusing to allow WFH when the infrastructure is already in place due to COVID adaptation from last year is stupid as gently caress. 95% of people I know prefer it at least on a limited basis and it's so much better for work life balance. Last year sick leave plummeted and productivity and morale rose despite rushed ad-hoc rollout. Slackers are going to slack whether they're in the office or not and if it were my decision I'd sack any manager who said with a straight face that they needed to see their employees to manage them properly. Adapt or die you boomer gently caress

We had one department head who was resistant to WFH. My theory is he just couldn't stand to spend that much time with his wife as is often the way with boomer men. He no longer works for the company and we now all WFH full time.

its not even in place from last years lockdown. its literally been possible the entire time we have had internet. our entire headcount uses terminal servers to log in to a server in a data centre in alexandria. lockdown was just the glaring and obvious spotlight shone on the situation and now everyone knows it works and its fine. Im not a 100% wfh person - i like the social aspect of the office because I live on my own, so lockdown was actually kinda mentally rough! the simple solution is to give people the option. nobody wants to be told to work in conditions they are uncomfortable or unhappy about. forcing everyone to commute and come into the office and wear a mask all day makes everyone pissed off. its such an easy win for management to buy goodwill - go work from home, see you in a week if this blows over. instead they went the exact opposite way and burnt whatever goodwill was left. this is literally a week after they just went to three different depots and said 'by the by, we dont need more than one depot in each state, so we are going to shut down your depot, and some of you might get jobs at the remaining one!' gg fucklords.

Shithead manager finally left today. Didn't have the decency to actually finish writing the procedural documentation asked and I had to wrestle important questions out of him. Oh and the oval office snuck off early saying 'just gotta check some stuff in the warehouse' - wonder what he stole. The fact the bosses didn't have any beers ready for a little send off for him was quite telling that everyone was completely done with the oval office. Now to warn his new co-workers on another site. Daughter's work has decided that their IT people are essential, so they will continue going into head office a couple of days a week each. TPTB did supply them with three boxes of masks, though. lol

The best thing about wfh is I don't have to see the people who want to come into the office for the social interaction they apparently can't get with people outside of work.

If you have poo poo staff not being productive while they wfh you do exactly the same thing you'd do if they were not getting done in the office, you performance manage them. And if you're too dense to be able to do that without them being in the same room as you, well you're a lovely manager, gently caress off and stop trying to punish all of us who are quite capable of wfh. I'd join that wfh union in a second.

I work from home on Thursdays so it'll be interesting to go to work tomorrow and see whether they're actually going to enforce mask wearing in my company. My boss said he doesn't really care and thinks it will be impractical to work with them on, but the practice manager will likely have a different view. It might just be easier for us all to WFH for the next week or two.

Hello AusGBS it is I, a random seppo. You mentioned glasses fogging issues. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4610040 If you have access to a 3D printer (or friend with the same) that small plastic doodad, installed and made to bear just below the metal strip over the nose on the KN95 mask, will basically eliminate your glasses fogging issues. They're quick to print and durable (recommend PETG so it lasts longer). I found that KN95 masks have a lovely seal, but these clips made them viable enough so i didn't steam up my glasses. I am sorry some of the ineffective spread-control measures that were required in the US (and similar countries which denied/did not control covid) are being treated as an effective spread-control option in states/territories experiencing the current outbreak to avoid a shutdown. It seems like fuckwits are universal no matter the nation and all of them lust for the death of their constituents.

Apparently the fatuous turnip known as Barnaby Joyce has taken to sitting in the Prime Minister's chair as ScoMo's calling in via screen, and I half-suspect Barnaby's been brought in to use the spineless twit as a puppet at this point. I can't see Scotty having the ability to say no to anyone on anything if they so much as look at him sternly.Infinitum posted:No lockdown Hahahah, gently caress; Some 60-year-old codger decided now's the time to travel back from Sydney to Melbourne and brought COVID back with him for a souvenir. Contact sites aren't listed yet, but it's tentatively looking like public transport () and a stop somewhere along the way home. Also did you know that the Nationals reckon science says South Australia no longer needs fresh water? edit: ScoMo's defense for loving up COVID management is "Hey, nobody's in an ICU Bed unlike anywhere else in the world!!" Fingers crossed nothing happens and all, but given the spread I doubt their lucks gonna hold on that with Sydney this time. Neddy Seagoon fucked around with this message at 05:32 on Jun 24, 2021 |
