That's one of the milder dangerous things he's done. Posting Colin Furze in this thread is probably more cheating than posting Adam Savage. I had to stop watching him because every video was him perching himself precariously above some spinning death trap that could grab his tie at any moment.

When he first started, he was a high energy young plumber with a lot of skill and imagination and a love of loud music. Now he's been Youtube algorithmed into a parody of himself.

I've only watched one or two of his things when they get linked here, I think he's just getting worse with time as he's found what makes the money. (Children. Kids and fail-adults, because I cannot imagine anyone else spending a dime on personality they saw on the internet.)

I always knew that people hosed up the latch connecting system on newer car seats but never thought some one would post a picture of it. That is nearly criminal negligence.

FWIW, its not required by OSHA but almost every decent-sized general contractor I know of, my own included, and every manufacturing and industrial plant I've ever worked in has required scissor lift users to be tied off. Just from that photo, I see at least the chain gate not being closed, no PPE, and probably a good chance neither of those guys are trained to operate that lift.

So much so that I was almost certain it was a part of my provincial regulations, but it turns out it's not required. WorkSafeBC posted:(1.1) Despite subsection (1), a person on a scissor lift, or on an elevating work platform with similar characteristics to a scissor lift, that is on a firm level surface with no irregularities to cause platform instability, is exempt from wearing a personal fall arrest system, provided that all manufacturer's guardrails and chains are in place. In my experience, fall protection violations are the easiest to spot by auditers, so everyone is hypervigilant about making sure they're worn.

It's easy to transition from a situation where FP isn't needed to where it is, and it might not be as easy for your brain to make that connection. It makes a lot of sense (to me] from a practical perspective to wear it any time you're elevated, and I think that and liability are where the 'FP always when elevated' policies come from Edit: also some of the coworkers I've had in environments where fall pro is relevant would 100% walk off the edge of a scissorlift if they were not restrained to it EvenWorseOpinions fucked around with this message at 21:06 on Jun 27, 2021 |
