Yeah good thing the Chinese ruling elite which CSPAM love so much have studiously avoided purchasing property, and definitely haven't driven up prices worldwide with their attempting to get capital out of mainland China.

I really have enjoyed this thread over the years and it would suck to have it taken down because tankies are now allowed to dictate what is appropriate posting and what isn't. Unfortunately what I put my foot in was something soggy and oh my god what is that smell will do better in the future e: cooling down barbecue at the folks fucked around with this message at 10:24 on Jun 29, 2021 |

I have written about how much the Taiwanese government has sucked on many things. A couple Taiwanese companies were trying to keep foreign workers hostage inside their dorms when a virus breakout occurred. Alot of explaining about how the workers (mostly from Indonesia, Vietnam) and their "lifestyles" made is easier to spread COVID. It is lovely, lovely stuff. https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/4234580

Gotta be honest I’m not really a fan of reducing Taiwan to something to rile up people you don’t ideologically agree with. I also think that nobody actually gets angry at it and the ownage of the tankies at repeating that is all in your head. Like every once in a while or as a response to some particularly good news about Taiwan and all, cool, but poo poo is overused.

And the Taiwan gimmick is of course just that, I also like that the thread is pretty good about pointing out the bad sides of places like S-Korea and Taiwan.

There’s a big insurgent faction on the mainland though that’s been causing trouble for a while though. Hopefully Formosan Stonewall Jackson will burn it down though and put the rebel scum leader Xi Jinping’s fat Pooh bear head on a pike though.

I just wandered into QCS and demanded that genocide deniers be banned, least of all because I find their posts equating Uighurs with barbarians to be extremely racist. On the other hand, several people elsewhere feel that this thread is more racist towards Chinese people than it is funny. Good thing to do would be to take a step back and examine whether posting funny China things could do be done with less racism, imo.

Chinese is a nationality not a race. Even though the CCP would like you to believe otherwise and that they have control over every person of Chinese descent world wide. Hell Chinese isn’t even an ethnic group. Although Daddy Xi is doing his best to make it one by genociding every non-Han he can. So we used western maps of the UK and France etc. But for fun I printed a google maps satellite image of northern Beijing at a2 and gave them a bunch of post-its with map feature names on them to stick where they thought they should go. They kept on sticking lakes where I knew there were no lakes, eventually I realized that the big blue green blobs were bulldozed hutongs covered with green scrim to keep the dust down - hundreds of hectares of them. Last week we took a didi at night along a new highway through that area and passed around 100 (I stopped counting at 70ish but didn't start until I realized how many there were) brand new, unpainted, empty, 30 story residential blocks.

i was speaking with my parents who travelled in china back in the mid eighties earlier today and learned about the 'three squeals' meal which refers to the three times a rat or mouse squeals as it is eaten live (once when picked up, once when dipped in the sauce and once when eaten). they never witnessed that one themselves but did see something with an embryo/foetus (maybe it was a rat embryo) and spoke about 'chicken with bone' which is the bone shard thing and 'pork with fat' which is apparently mostly the frothing fat part and not that pleasant. they did go to some famous restaurants, one which served 'across the bridge noodles' which is where the broth is served under a layer of fat so it maintains its high temperature alongside strips of raw meat which you dip into the broth with chopsticks and cook in the bowl which they found very nice, and 'pockmarked grandmas tofu' restaurant which serves one dish, tofu cooked with a crazy amount of sichuan peppers which they found intolerably hot. the places they went are now covered in skyscrapers etc and im sure the cuisine has moved on too but i have to say i don't find the traditional cuisine they described to me particularly appealing e: oh yeah almost forgot they had to eat a stew/soup with the main ingredients of heart valves, quite hard going apparently zhar fucked around with this message at 13:30 on Jun 29, 2021 |

the one thing people of different race might not notice, Chinese always small-talk from people's back, instead of spitting poo poo in the face like most Americans do. so if you are a foreigner lived/living in any part of China, chances are you will hear nothing at all but everybody refers you as 白皮豬/摘綿花的那個 (Mandarin) 死鬼佬/黑鬼 (Cantonese) disclaimer: no intention to insult anyone with those phases, pure discussions
