absolutely fantastic game. definitely deserves to be up there with re4.
if i had played this when i was 15 i wouldnt have been able to sleep for months, but now i was not affected much at all. i already knew how the story more or less went, so the final twist obviously didnt land.
I finished in normal but it still felt stupidly easy, even with a controller, because they flood you with ammo and health. i imagine it has a dynamic ammo drop system that makes it so it drops ammo for weapons you use a lot of, which resulted in me getting like 7 full stacks of ripper ammo at some point, cause i was using them just to make space in my inventory cause i had upgraded my plasma and line gun and not the ripper. shooting limbs off necros with the plasma cutter feels super good, and i might play it again on a harder difficulty cause i was cruising. died like 5 times total, and not a single one of those was in combat with enemies.
still really cool atmosphere and art design, cant wait to try 2 even though its more action oriented.

11. the legend of zelda: ocarina of time 3d

this is a really satisfying one to cross off of my list. i got this game when it first came out, but had never actually beaten it for one reason or another. i made a rule for myself in like 1999 that i could not let myself buy another zelda game until i beat any of the ones i already had and this game was basically reason #1 for that. i tried again in college but stopped playing right at the last castle and dropped it. in like 2014 or so i finally started beat link's awakening and slowly have gone through zelda games since then. anyhow, net cafe scandal's thread made me want to play ocarina of time again, and now i've finally done it. i've beaten it. it's alright.

Dragon Quest (SNES)

Admittedly I knew next to nothing about DQ before reading the Imp Zone, and the most I would have been able to say about it was "That's the lesser predecessor to Final Fantasy, right?". I was really surprised by how different the exploration felt from Final Fantasy though. Getting stronger and striking out further into the wilderness, coming back to the castle to lick your wounds, coming to a fork in the road and finding out that you picked the wrong path at the first encounter all wrapped up to make it feel like a completely different experience.

The fan translation I found was a little rough though, and one of the Dragonlord's lines was only half translated, so I'm gonna poke around to see if I can find a different one for DQ2.

Told myself I gotta beat all the 2d metroids before the new one comes out. The only ones I ever beat in the past were super metroid (God tier game) and metroid 2 on the game boy. Finally beat this today

I really enjoyed fusion. Not as good as super metroid (nothing is) but still a really good game that I've been meaning to beat since I bought it on launch. I still had the Nintendo power players guide for it in my closet lol

Now to beat the other gba metroid game, Zero Mission

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne

Despite the fact that I’ve played through Personas 3-5, I didn’t have much experience with mainline SMT. I finally decided to pick up Nocturne when the HD version came out and holy poo poo I’m glad I did. I can honestly say this is one of the best games I’ve ever played. It was one of those games where I just couldn’t stop thinking about it even when I wasn’t playing it. I got what I guess is the true demon ending since I cleared the labyrinth and fought Lucifer.

gbc of 1+2 is the best version for those games I think, they look pretty good considering espeically 1 and they rebalance the experience so you don't have to grind for 5000 hours. 2 is still a pretty tough game even given the rebalancing

A lot of people beating games today. I just got the true ending in World's End Club. This is the surprise of the year for me, I thought it looked kinda cute when it was premiered at that Nintendo Direct a few months ago but didn't really expect to ever actually check it out, but I downloaded the demo on a whim a few days ago and was interested enough to buy it right after, and really ended up loving it. The gameplay for the most part is very so-so, I wouldn't go so far as to call it bad but aside from an interesting boss fight or two it's not really good either. But it's serviceable enough and the visual novel portions are the real reason to play so I didn't mind it. The writing is the real star, it could be really funny sometimes and hit you with the feels at others, the story was interesting and had some wild twists, and the characters are all super likable and charming. Reminds me a lot of the 90s/early 2000s Saturday morning anime shows about The Power Of Friendship that I grew up with, which I assume is intentional since it's set in 1995. It could be cheesy sometimes (there are like 3 separate scenes where the team is demoralized or at each other's throats and someone lifts their spirits by singing their club anthem) but in like an earnest way that it never bothered me. The cute art style and great soundtrack only adds to it. I get why it seems to be getting mixed reviews because of the gameplay but if you like narrative-based visual novel-type games and don't mind doing some nothing-special platforming sections in between story bits I'd recommend it.

Let me take you for a ride.
Finished Everhood today, just the got the regular ending. It was alot of fun, exciting and interesting, and gave me alot to think about it, as far as mortality and grieving go. But overall a pretty positive message, and a very underated game.
