[/bojack] Twitter and tumblr have some similar issues, but also some completely separate ones. Like at least tumblr allowed for you to make blog posts and write-ups and spread those around. You couldn't edit or redact things if something ended up being wrong or inappropriate to share, but at least it had some baseline feature for long-form communication. Outside of the fact that the tumblr devs only wanted people to use tumblr like pinterest or instagram and kept making updates to try to force that while the usebase constantly protested (prior to the mass porn exodus at least), tumblr's big problem was simply having a young, gullible, and intense userbase.

When you suddenly realize thousands of people see you as a role model you can take one of two paths: "gently caress you, I'm an entertainer, I never signed up to be a role model!" -or- "Woah... um, hey everyone, let's talk about being better people to each other" Dunno what flipped the switch there, but ICP turned out to be the latter, which is great on them. Maybe Juggaloes landing on the FBI watch list made them reconsider what kind of fanbase they were fostering.

Pretty much, they've been up front anti-racist since forever and with 'Your Rebel Flag' in 1992 and 'Confederate Flag' in 2015 both being songs entirely about making GBS threads on confederacy apologists the KKK and racists in general, along with others that still have those messages but might not be solely about them, quit with homophobic phrases in their lyrics (Mostly, J's been clean but there's still a more modern song or two I can think of with Shaggy dropping fag, but even those were like a handful of years ago now), I wanna say they eased off some sexism too, they were getting brought up on a suit from their publicist for having a lovely work environment like a decade ago but haven't heard much since, if anything I know there's more lady fan groups and stuff than ever with how much more open and pushing acceptance their community's gotten in recent years. That and juggalos have always been a pretty jumbled up bag of decent people, while no doubt any community will have some lovely people so not like it's 100% saints, but a large majority of hate they've always gotten has been really obvious classism, constant "trailer trash" and similar condemnation, while a lot have only ever been low income stoners not hurting anybody, but even on that it's understandable why ICP works so well for them too, who've had plenty of songs and lyrics summing up to "Don't let people beat on you for being poor" from back when to now. Tumblr's greater issue that started getting them cut wasn't so much porn in the plain sense, it was specifically that tumblr had a lot of sneakily nested blogs with child porn on them, that they just ignored for a long time, so then when it came time to do anything, they decided to burn everything down as a whole. Which supposedly didn't even solve anything at all, since the big problem was already that they were hiding in like one pixel strings of links on gibberish looking dummy blogs. I feel like that's kind of an understatement. loving with Twitter access in any shape or form has pretty much become shorthand for "Authoritarian Dictatorship Crackdown" and I don't think anyone who would be involved in that decision making process wants that kind of bad press. I don't think the public at large really gave a poo poo when it happened to Tumblr, and the CP stuff probably soured a lot of people on it in general, but the backlash to any serious move against Twitter would be loving apocalyptic.
