Weebs like this have been convinced since Crunchyroll pivoted to legit that it's an agenda. It just got more pronounced and loud the last five or so years. Another Funimation anime, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, had two characters banter about the patriarchy enforcing unreasonable standards of beauty for women. Weebs, as expected, lost their poo poo. Overall, weebs are bad.

This is generally good for the host. Well now people have worked out you can join the cool kid group by just lying about donations. It’s kinda like cheating at multiplayer games. Why do people do it when it’s not their skill getting them the win? Who the gently caress knows, some peoples brains just let them kinda short circuit the dopamine reward process.

Hell, if you start digging you learn that a lot of the normal Japanese language 101 is/was slang. Take konnichiwa. Basic Japanese hello right? Well it’s shorthand for “Konnichi wa gokigen ikaga desuka” which is “how are you today?” So the modern Konichiwa literally translated would be something like “is today?” Don’t even get started on “arigato” which didn’t literally mean “thank you” originally. I do recall getting into arguments about my own native language over really basic stuff is what got me out of fansubbing way back when.
