I'm a bit behind, but the ID:YD podcast alluded to "something" bad happening with Mr. Kitty, but they didn't want to offer any hot takes on their 10th anniversary episode, and said to look it up on social media. Looking at Mr. Kitty's, he's apologetic, but plays it down as having an explicit sexual online relationship with a fan who he didn't realise was a minor. (And he caused substantial harm to the victim and the relationship with his husband.)

Not to suggest that isn't bad enough, but ... is there more?

He said he broke down after finding out about the minor’s age, but a chatlog implied he thought they were 16 to begin with when he asked for pictures or whatever. As far as I understood the thing

Monsters? They look like monsters to you?
Mr Kitty/Forrest knew the person he was talking to was a minor, and continued talking to him for another two months or so. His initial statement sounded like "oops, we talked and then I found out he was a minor" and then the screen recording of the chats were released and showed that he knew early on he was a minor (a gay teen in Russia, a country known for its great track record with LGBTQIA folks) and they had a continued explicit conversation. And then a year or so later reached out to the (still a minor) kid again to apologize.

NGP issued an initial pretty bland/mild statement the day the news broke, and then a day or so more definitively condemned his actions and shared info about how they will no longer be releasing his music and I believe giving the sales from previous music to his (now ex) husband.

So yeah, not great!

Appreciate the replies, thank you.

He was someone perpetually on my list to do a deeper dive on. I've enjoyed the tracks I've heard, and liked his live show, but I don't have anything invested in it.

What a gross turn. Just awful.

Hey, here's a pretty amazing cover of Bela Lugosi's Dead I found Bandcamp diving today. I hope you enjoy it. It's done in a fun bossa nova style.

Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere.

I've been hit-or-miss generally on Buck Gooter but I've had their new single Nailed to the Cross on repeat all day. The chorus was recorded on the guitarist's deathbed shortly before cancer got him, adds a whole other layer of darkness to it.

I was kind of annoyed when I first listened to it, like what was the loving point, but it does sound/hit harder on my speakers at home.

Hell yeah this bangs.

I think I had six KMFDM albums before I realised that in all honesty, I could just listen to JJJ on repeat instead and end up exactly as happy because it's so great.

Definitely saw the title, assumed it was a remix, listened, thought it was fine but couldn't really figure out what was different and realized it was just a remaster.

That song has been remixed so much it was hard to remember what the original sounded like.

The 2021 version isn't as ridiculously bassy as the original (which was a mastering error if I understand correctly). Oh well, restored with a slight equalizer tweak :)

I'm suddenly realising that possibly I've been listening all these years to some mp3s I got from audiogalaxy or soulseek back in the day which I burned to CDR then ripped to MP3 then just kept bringing forwards to new hard drives and I'm not sure I've ever actually bought the album before. Oops. Better buy it now!

Thankful that I never liked Assemblage 23 and thus am forever young, especially when the calendar turns over to 2022 and I see what year Tactical Neural Implant came out.

I had this realization when Empires hit 20 since VNV was so big in high school and college.

The new Noise Unit came out yesterday. Only listened to it once but it feels like a stealth FLA release. None of the songs are as good as Unknown from Mechanical Soul but it sure seemed to have more points of interest.

Possibly more exciting - they’re remastering & re-releasing nearly all of the pre-pop Delerium albums.

I love that band and the output of those guys both as working together and individually, but I fear/think Skinny Puppy is done. It will be sad if it's an unceremonious tweet that ends the band and not a farewell tour but it is what it is. At least that last tour slayed.

Key has been pretty active before and during the pandemic. Ogre went dark after that tour for Tricks came to an end.
