It was so bad I couldn’t even finish the dlc and just reverted to the save before I even started it. ME3 is so odd because some of the plot and writing in there is pretty good, but then the other half is just awful, even before the ending.

This was no Liam Neeson as Dad or Patrick Stewart as Emperor. Moss as Aria, Green as Joker and as you noted Sheen as TIM all put in a lot of effort. Keith Szarabajka is kind of a celebrity voice-actor.but he's also just a "regular" voice-actor. In any event, he ruled and both he and Jason Marsden did prominent voices in games around this game. Mass Effect, Fallout New Vegas, Xenosaga and Final Fantasy XIII-2. Love all those games, no coincidence.

I imagine with video games it's often a case of whether they have actual voice direction. A lot of games seriously phone in voice acting because they don't really understand (or have the budget for) what you actually need to be good at it.

The original was a broken and janky POS that got rightfully mocked. Then the sequel hit and was FAR better than people expected and had a bit of a following on the PS3. As did the third game which had a pretty active userbase when FPS games that weren't Call of Duty or Halo were dying within a month. A lot of Hollywood actors see it as an easy paycheque so I imagine they are like Krusty the Clown recording dolls who just come in, read their lines then leave. Actual voice actors are only as good as the people directing them.

And video games usually have really bad voice direction. Very rarely do they actually have actors come into the studio together and record their conversations as real back-and-forth conversations, partially because that's just way more expensive than doing it the lazy way. Famously, for Oblivion Bethesda just handed its VAs an alphabetized list of all their lines with no context or direction.

underrail would have benefitted immensely from allowing you to have a single companion with you. as a solo experience it is BRUTAL and unforgiving (especially at higher difficulties) and that's simply not for everyone that being said the game itself is fantastic

There was a day 2 patch that fixed a lot of the lagginess, and after that the game played decently well with about the same level noticeable bugs as other AAA launches. I would say it was my favorite game of 2020 (pending Ghosts of Tsushima and Last of Us 2 playthroughs). Not even counting Spider Man Morales as 2020 since PS5 is still a pipe dream.

Yeah, My PC is nothing special but I played it after a couple of patches earlier this year and it was fine. Obviously there was a ton of jank and bugs but nothing that hindered me from enjoying it. The remaster of Mass Effect 1 was actually worse since that had several quests I couldn't complete since NPCs didn't spawn. That was way more irritating. itry posted:
