I use a PS5 disc with the PS5 remote for my 4K/Blus. It's honestly really good and so is the remote, the only thing super weird is you have to go into the audio settings (only once) to set up Atmos and stuff, and it's not called Atmos by name lol. But my receiver shows Atmos and it clearly is working.

Nihonniboku posted:Apparently there is no IR sensor, but Sony at least this time released an official remote. https://direct.playstation.com/en-u...onblock-buy-now I think they always sold a remote. I have a PS3 that I used to use for BRs and I actually bought that overpriced Logitech adapter for it (it was an IR receiver that pretended to be a USB controller). That eventually broke too. Controlling that PS3 was just cursed.

Don't suppose we're likely to see a 4k release of Munich anytime soon? I remember it took til 2015 for a BR release, just saw it in my stack and would love to see that updated.

If they actually did make Armageddon the first UHD release it would probably be a huge seller. It would be something that collectors would consider essential because of the new format and also because of the self-aware joke.

Weird question, what movies have the most drastic improvement from Blu-ray to 4K? I’m looking for something I can show my dad so he can easily see the difference between Blu-ray and 4K.

Long shot but wonder if Heat is that Criterion 4K which is why news about a 4K release kind of unofficially appeared and disappeared

I feel like the most drastic improvements are the ones where they undid hosed up transfers like Predator and Fellowship of the Ring so that might just be cheating. Blues Brothers and Blade are fantastic catalog releases.

They're doing a Lena Dunham mega set and for the first time they are releasing the entire series Girls with Tiny Furniture and that other lovely HBO show no one remembers even though it was like two years ago. There's also new versions of all the content but recut so Lena Dunham is playing every character.

A cold day in Hell but it would be amazing if Criterion's first UHD was The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford since they've had over ten years to realize the huge mistake they made turning it down in the first place. Even colder day in Hell if it includes the original four hour cut.
