Just lol at handing over huge sums of money to a “company” where the only way to raise any kind of complaint or issue is an AI Chatbot

Semantically, "you" is both singular and plural, though syntactically it is always plural. It always takes a verb form that originally marked the word as plural.

Also, there is no plural when the context is an argument with an individual rather than a group. Somfin shouldn't put words in my mouth.

I feel like that's one thing that can never be called a scam. If you buy something called a "dog coin" it is pretty clear what kind of investment that is.

Lol, the company these rubes are wiring money to is literally in a mall across the street from a Casino in Las Vegas. Nothing suspicious about that.

The fact that this mall has a bitcoin ATM is almost certainly not a coincidence:

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players will no longer be able to trade container keys between accounts because the trade was part of a massive worldwide fraud network. Players earned cases in Counter-Strike containing weapons and cosmetic upgrades, but had to purchase the keys to open the boxes. Developer Valve runs an internal marketplace on Steam where it allowed players to trade the boxes and the keys. Valve patched the game on October 28 and explained the problem in its patch notes.

“In the past, most key trades we observed were between legitimate customers,” the statement said. “However, worldwide fraud networks have recently shifted to using CS:GO keys to liquidate their gains. At this point, nearly all key purchases that end up being traded or sold on the marketplace are believed to be fraud-sourced.”

Oh, I don't think he's into it, other than tangentially as a source for a signal - I mean maybe he is but the eye rolling and "I know nothing about crypto" seemed to indicate not.

I know that loving area. The casino across the street isn't an on-the-Strip casino, it's not even the nicest off-Strip casino imo.
Tivoli Village, now that I think about it, exactly the sort of place a coiner would want to put a Butt ATM: There's a fair amount of money in the area but without being organized (from what I can tell) under one of the major conglomerates in Vegas who would say "lmao get that poo poo outta here"

There's a buttcoin ATM at the local mall, but I live just south of San Francisco so I guess it's not too surprising.

I've never seen anyone using it, of course.

I live just outside of Chicago and there is a bitcoin ATM in the gas station down the street. A guy that I used to know was a waiter in the downtown area of my city and the owner of the restaurant, a very high end seafood place, put one in his restaurant. I've never seen or heard about anyone using either one. I guess the high end restaurant kind of makes sense but the gas station one baffles me.

How do I?
The corner store by my house (also Chicago suburbs) has a Bitcoin ATM. There used to be one of those "put a quarter in and try to knock quarters off the shelf" machines there, so I think they just rent the space out to people.

I can't help but see Bitcoin ATMs as basically just cutting out the middleman in a card-skimming scheme. The ones I have seen in the wild only accept cash - they don't dispense it.

David is the one who posted that twitter link - hopefully thats not doxxing, it seemed pretty clear from his twitter shout out there, and I know he's talked about his books here as well.

Seconding his blog is a great read - its generally snarky, but full of good stuff. Hat tip to @ahcastor (on twitter & amycastor.com) as well if you dont follow her. They both are pretty frequent commenters in other media outlets as well.
