Raged posted:We also are starting a new enterprise agreement where staff have to have mandatory 10 he break between shifts instead of 8. Neither the staff or coordinators are happy about that. Isn't the break between shifts a mandatory ten hours under the SCHADS award anyway? You can't have an EA that has worse conditions in it than the relevant award offers... If your staff have been working shifts without ten hour breaks then your company probably owes them some backpay/overtime. The last services provider I was contracted to hosed this up big time and ended up having to pay some staff tens of thousands of dollars in historical unpaid overtime. I don't know if you have anything to do with your company's payroll but you might want to double check your own payslips at the very least... Ugh worse work talk page snipe. Seeing Dr Chant in the NSW press briefings and the way Gladys is clearly treating her as a scapegoat, do you think we're more likely to see Dr Chant decide to break ranks and say what actually needs saying, or just leap across the stage and go feral on Gladys personally when she gets pushed and blamed one time too many?

Add into this that the SCHADS Award is complicated af and there are rules around how many hours a support worker is able to work without going into overtime or broken shifts, and that some people living in supported accommodation only have NDIS funding for 2 to 1 care, it turns into a literal nightmare to figure out how to make it work. I'm still trying to do the math and work out how she fits in sleep and it sounds like she just doesn't.

I was bitching about this 11 hour night shift I did sitting at my desk and she killed my whinge by telling me she broke down last week after doing 3 days working various sites and clients(this is Vic). My daughter studied nursing full-time while working .8 in aged care. It was brutal. In her final year she ended up resigning and doing agency work. She couldn't believe how much better the money was for less hours. She was also able to work with the agency as an RN the moment she had her licence.

Infinitum posted:I have something that might qualify, but yes.. bugger Mr bee is has a pretty serious mobility impairment. Not the kind that fucks with his immunity, but oddly enough when he registered for the vaccine he was only asked whether he had a disability, and not whether that disability was the kind that might make him more vulnerable to infection. His vaccine appointment is a whole two weeks sooner than mine, and I'm a reasonably healthy 40 year old fortunate enough to be suffering only from intermittent chronic pain and mental illness not serious enough to be considered a disability. At this point I'm just grateful that our jabs are coming up over the next few weeks but it's vexing how I know a few people who would be at relatively greater risk of covid than I am, and they all have appointments weeks after me 😕

That's awful. I hate people turning up sick to work and infecting everyone even during non-plague times, it's absolutely unforgivable to be doing it now when you're supposed to go get tested at the hint of a sniffle.

Totally understand the sentiment But look at it this way, if you have covid and get over it naturally like most people have, there's a small sample study that just came out of sweden that is showing that you will probably continue to have T cells for it up to a year, possibly more. I know tons of people who have had covid now (lots of olds because it's my age group) that were unvaxxed, and I'm a bit jealous of them, because their immunity is possibly more rock solid then my pfizer vax. But who knows. Everything seems to change every day. https://www.bbc.com/news/health-53248660
