Fuss and misery
Some youtuber actually coded up one of those pull the lever, solve the puzzle games to see if there was any challenge or entertainment in sincerely implementing the puzzle as advertised.
If I remember correctly he had a friend mess with it, was entertained for about 5 minutes, and said that if it could be randomized then it'd be a neat little time-waster.

I saw someone mentioned that because of new EU rules they actually have to start put them in the games or risk getting hit with false marketing charges, though whether or not it's true I don't know.

While I'm fairly sure it's known well enough now, mobile game advertising almost always has absolutely nothing to do with the actual game. (they're all gachas and/or match-3)

Remember when people would try to say that mobile games would be the new wave of innovation? (Talking about all the Flash games from half a decade ago that had just been ported to them)

They innovated the hell out of using consumer psychology to get people to pay for more microtransactions. And especially in identifying + capturing latent gambling addicts.

Fun Shoe
I downloaded a game last week that is entirely a bunch of little puzzle levels (with a storyline!) No "slide the pin, drain the lava" puzzles but I wouldn't have been surprised if there had been.

Tucson is actually pretty cool. The Sonoran Desert Museum, Mount Lemon, Gates Pass, the airplane boneyard, and ask any random person which restaurant invented the chimichanga to start a street brawl.

Too bad about all the Arizonans though.

I play one of those daily gacha games where you can "watch" ads for a perk (aka press the button while you go do something else)

So every day, a game shows an ad for a different game, but the game depicted in the ad doesn't actually exist, and nobody watches this ad.

About as accurate as the rest of this, which is to say "not at all except insofar as Peppa may need to share and sharing is a slippery slope to Communism"

The bad cropping is intentional. It makes you more likely to "engage" with it. For instance, you probably wouldn't have reposted it here if it didn't look like poo poo.

Yes, making your ad look like poo poo in the internet age is a smart marketing move :eng99:
