In skeleton you go head first, in luge you lie on your back. Lugers can reach speeds of 140 km/h and beyond so the helmet alone doesn't help much if you go off the track. There is no reason when they introduced it and set the rules under which they compete they couldn’t specify the PPE requirements. All competitors would be in the same boat and would have a chance to practice for the event in the kit. It would probably spur the other competitions to have the same standards. Wouldn’t take long before they were used to the gear and performing at the same as without. I too don't skateboard.

Only one login is allowed at a time, and only one device registered." So guess who registered their phone first not knowing it was a per company not per seat thing....me. I complained about it so X Manufacturer has given us a handy flowchart of how to bypass this due to quirks in their system...and cannot understand why we are up in arms about the redundancy of this so called hardening yet completely open side door. Oh and the bypass instructions were complete in a PPT just as a cherry on top. I'm assuming they have had actual full boardroom meetings nodding at how great this idea is. The tank video a page back brought back a repressed memory for me. When I was one of the junior SONAR Techs on Newport News (SSN 750), we went into drydock and it looked a lot like this By the time we got completely dry it was about 9:30 at night. The other junior STS and I were tasked with uncoupling the hoses that pumped out the SONAR dome up front. So imagine two firehoses that are making a big ol' "U" from topside of sub to the drydock wall with the coupling at the bottom and then further imagine how much water and how much water pressure there was when we started to uncouple them. It was a lot of nasty seawater
