That's not even an exaggeration, I'm completely mystified why it just disappeared into a largely-ignored footnote rather than everyone instantly treating him as Alan "Gross gently caress Who Is Inexplicably Not In Prison" Moore every time his name comes up.

Also the bit from the first installment of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen where the Invisible Man is lurking in a girls' school dormitory and constantly raping the students, several of whom become pregnant and believe that they've been impregnated by the Holy Spirit, and this is basically treated as a hilarious gag

Yeah to be honest I've had trouble following Alan's work since he wrote Lost Girls. The thread has probably gone on this particular derail for long enough, but just to summarise some of this for those who don't know. Lost Girls is a pornographic comic book Moore wrote some years back, you might be thinking well, what's so wrong with that, we're all adults here, Moore making a comic for pure titillation can't be all that bad right? Just in case it's not clear, do NOT look up Lost Girls, consider this an extreme Content Warning if you ever do. It might have been one thing if this was the only borderline creepo thing Alan ever did, but sadly a lot of even his most revered works feature rape a little too often, and depending how deep into his work you go you can find a lot more 'problematic' things depending on the lens you choose to analyze it from. Funnily enough, Alan has since 'retired' from comics (though this isn't the first time he's said that either), as of 2019. Suffice to say I'm not sure Alan is a full blown sex-pest like the industry has been rife with as of late, but a lot of the stuff he's written into his work over the years has definitely made me uncomfortable if nothing else. I still shudder thinking about the early scene in Promethea; where the protagonist, a young girl suggested to be in her twenties iirc, meets an 'old man who is a wizard' in the story, and they proceed to having sex under the guise of said Wizard 'Teaching her Magic'. I get the impression Alan is just very 'Sex Positive' and a horny old toad, but that's not to say I will be in any way surprised if reports of previously suppressed harassment claims get revealed against him sometime in the future.

While it doesn't excuse it, based on interviews with him, Moore's rape obsession goes back to him and most everyone else he knew getting molested in the British school system.
