I wouldn’t count on clearance for them. The 64Gb’s are pretty much sold out in my area and most online retailers are sold out also. The returbs on Amazon were going for $60 over MSRP two days ago and are sold out now.

They appear out of stock currently as they've been withdrawn from sale for a month due to the issue with the facial interface. I'd guess that this makes the 2nd hand eBay price higher right now as that's the only way to get hold of one. If you wait a few weeks they'll be much more available.

Consoles use phones for their initial setup now as well though, the Xbox will straight up give you a code on first boot to enter on the Xbox app.

Yeah I never got VR working but with the ~15 minutes or so I played out of VR it seems like the kind of thing that would make me intensely nauseous anyway so I'll probably give the campaign a try out of VR.

They were doing that for a while but now they're just giving a silicone thing that goes over the standard facial interface.

I already got the free pleather vrcover but it was way too thick and really decimated the FOV so I'm happy to be getting the silicone thing.

Oh I wrote to them and got the leather thing back, I didn't realise the silicon thing was different.

I'll probably get that as well and then compare - now you mention it my FOV does seem a bit reduced

that and you can make a mess/blow up your kitchen/serve food with glass shards in it without having to clean up afterwards or pay for it

It's not just like a meme joke game though, aside from sandbox mode there's a campaign where you do have to do reasonably well to advance, if you want a challenge and not just sticking the propane tank in the oven

Cooking simulator's controls are so bad that it's easily the worst of those sim games. VR would probably help in that regard though

You need people to play with though. I can see it's not a lot of fun solo, and none of my friends are interested, so I haven't gone back to it yet.

This happened to me all the time on v28-29 but I haven’t noticed it recently. I could make it go away for a bit by switching between Fixed and Dynamic Bitrate inside AirLink or restarting the PC. Not sure if it got fixed by an Oculus/Nvidia update but make sure both of those are up to date.

Also I kinda suspect NiceHash could have been my culprit because it happened all the time whenever I didn’t restart the PC after closing out NH. Haven’t bothered at all with buttcoin for a month or two which coincides with my encoder problem disappearing. Obviously if you don’t run NiceHash ignore this last part but it really seemed suspiciously linked to the problem so I thought I’d mention it.
Oh poo poo, nicehash might well be the ticket, it causes all kinds of weird, silent, non-fatal glitches - and yeah, changing or fixing bitrate would chase it off for a while. I'm on a 1080ti and AFAIK up to date on both that and oculus. I'll give it a test and let you know.

Jeez, glad I mentioned it.

Now that I’m thinking about it, I was also seeing occasional artifacts in Parsec at the time but it was nowhere close to being as noticeable as in VR - except when parts of my wallpaper would mysteriously change from a snowy landscape to some black and white rendition of the casino carpet acid trip from Fear and Loathing.

I’m fairly certain NiceHash’s folder can just be deleted since iirc it’s one of those dealies where you extract a zip and run it directly from the extracted folder.

I am new to VR and own an Index. Is there a list of PC VR support applications that people suggest installing? I see them come up occasionally, but I generally only browse the thread when not at home and thus never installed these programs. I know one is some sort of cable twist tracker that shows a spiral at your feet, but the name escapes me. And there seems to be like 10 different "advanced options and stats" and other utility programs available on steam that do roughly the same thing, which one is the best? I didn't see any list of such software in the OP, forgive me if I am blind.

Ok so I've had this game for a while now.

Its awful.

I feel bad for the devs. Its so bad its not even funny. The mapping/note timing is off on every track. The colliders have no feedback to what you did when you hit them. The mapping and gameplay in general feels like its out of 2016. Menus are bad, everything is just, bad.

I honestly have no idea how they could even save it. Really.

Get XS Overlay on Steam for all yout quick browsing needs and fancy wrist stat screen with battery levels and clock.

As for your cable; Get yourself a three-meter-long semi-rigid cable protector with a diameter of 7mm, and wrap the stretch of cable that lays on the floor when you play. Stops it getting knotted up and saves it getting stepped on for all of about $5-$10 for your expensive cable.

Broomstick locomotion really feels pretty solid. I find this much more comfortable than smooth movement on foot, something about sitting and gently gliding around just works great.

I added speed control (leaning) and auto-braking as you approach obstacles.
