This is probably a long shot but does anyone know a vendor or processing house that has experience applying Conathane CE-1155 to PCBs? If they have aerospace experience it would be preferred but they just need to be ISO 9001 certified since this is not a controlled spec (kind of wish it was so there was an APL to go off of)

ZEPPELIN FACTS! The first airship Count Zeppelin built was of course LZ 1 (Luftschiff 1, or 'Airship 1.' It looked like this: That underslung thing is a ballasted weight. LZ 1 had control of a luxurious two of the three axies of flight as that weight would be shifted backwards and forwards to tilt the airship up and down. I might be reading this translation wrong, but I think all the ballast of sand and water could be raised and lowered to adjust trim, which is why there is that rack running the length of it? Flight instruments: a pendulim, two types of spirit levels, a barometer and a barograph. Communication between the two gondolas was done by engine telegraph, two bells, and a speaking trumpet. Also reading how Zeppelin got this far is a little confusing, since on the one hand you have this narrative of Zeppelin as a manager who got other people to do the work, and on the other a man who was really set in his ideas for the most part and resisted change, even when that was fudging up his ambitions. Like the military got real engineers figuring performance stats out, but Zeppelin was resistant to any changes, because 1) stubby symmetrical nose and tails were fine (they were not fine and generated all sorts of drag problems, hence the slightly surrealist control surfaces) 2) don't make me build bigger airships because I've got a building shed that is paid for, and 3) people NEED to be able to 'feel the air' to be a successful pilot. (They don't and the compromise solution of having windscreens that connected directly to the fuselage but not proper cabins was a contributing factor in the L 2 disaster.) He also has a fairly incredible bench of workers supporting him, and sometimes this translated German book I'm reading makes it sound like Zeppelin had all his collaborators living at his manor house. Two of these being Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach, which is very AI. Extra weirdness here is that the German government avoided offical support of Zeppelin, despite Kaiser Wilhelm II being a personal friend of Zeppelin? While Zeppelin resisted the Prussian aviation department (which was a thing) from taking over, once the military got involved they begin insisting that engineers be making the big decisions. Also an important engineer at Zeppelin, Heir Durr, started working with Zeppelin in a supervisory position when he was 21.

Can tanker planes refuel other tankers in air? I just caught a KC-135 flying over my house with a KC-46 in close formation behind it. Looked like the boom on the KC-135 was out, but I couldn't totally tell from my point. Here they are on ADSB exchange (please don't doxx me)

KC-135s also move quite a bit of personnel and materiel around the world, so refueling capability is useful for that.

`Nemesis posted:https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2021/08/pandemic-american-shoppers-nightmare/619650/ I really want to know what the gently caress is up with this. Is it mostly people being shits about masks? Is it the mysterious Long Covid we're beginning to hear about? Is it just pandemic stress in general making everyone behave like children? There's absolutely something going on; back in the day you'd hear about flight attendants having to subdue a passenger about every six months and it'd be national news for a while. Now it seems to happen every week.

Rad. I live near Pease and some of the refueling routes that ADSB Exchange has marked, so I see lots of tankers overhead, but this was the first time I saw them that close. To me it feels just that it's the only place where the "find out" part of "gently caress around and find out" actually happens really truly happens when it comes to inappropriate behavior, so the idiots who have been getting away with pushing the line and being a prick in Target or Walmart try to do the same things in flight, and get a pleasant reminder that the cabin crew is for safety first, ginger ale and snack mix second.
