Linkara was pretty insightful back when I was still somewhat into superhero comics, though I always got this vibe off of him that he took himself extremely seriously. Thinking back to that one Power Rangers rant he did. But he's also one of the people who always put his skits in the front or the end, so you could easily skip over them, which was a gods-send in those times.

I always thought they were crazy until the same thing started happening to me with other internet reviewers Sometimes, poo poo just doesn't click.

I'd argue one of the few "so bad it's good" movies made on purpose that worked was Rocky Horror Picture Show; at least that was intended to be homage/parody of bad movies, but even then on initial release nobody got the joke. There's also the case for "Freddy Got Fingered". I think it's especially rare for movies to do stay unaware of being bad because of the number of people involved in the making of them. You can make an album, youtube video, book etc. all from your basement solo but every body added to the production adds to the possibility of the movie being self-aware of its badness. Neil Breen is keeping that alive and had a tweet about his next movie; Twisted Pair didn't change him, let's see if that continues.

The only 'purposefully bad' thing I think I've ever enjoyed was garth marenghi's darkplace, but that has more going on beyond just "it's a bad 80s style medical drama", because in the fiction of the show darkplace was an actual 80s show that was bad accidentally. And so you have stuff with the fictional actors out of camera, all the interview footage and such. Especially the stuff that comes after the actual episodes themselves is brilliant. Matt Berry is so convincing and funny as a washed up pretentious theatre guy who is gradually realizing just how garbage the whole show is. so it's not just "bad on purpose", but convincingly playing as fictional actors/writers that would make bad content accidentally. whole dang thing's on youtube too.
