His "What's [answer]" phrasing makes me want to punch my tv, but otherwise I'll take him over James any day. I don't dislike him, but I doubt I'd ever want to know him in any other context (the whole "ultra minimalist lifestyle" interview story confirmed that suspicion for me).

He had a goal (acquiring cash for his sister's medical care) and was unrepentant about how abrasive he was which for a show catering in middle America is offputting to many. James and Matt may be similar but James seemed more of a persona (makes sense for his wrestling fandom) or at least can and has shown more empathy away from camera. Matt is probably as awkward if not more so but not in a malicious way but he'll hold the record for seeing the most Jeopardy hosts.

The bounce has annoyed me since I was a child no matter who does it but have you never seen the documentary about Chu? He's a pretty big piece of poo poo. James is a shithead too but in a different way.

Buck is awful and in the ways that everybody knew he'd be awful. Matt's not being a total rear end, which helps. He's right on a ton of clues, but most of his Daily Double bets are reasonable and I'm pretty sure last week he let both contestants out of the hole in the late stages of Double Jeopardy.

A lot of these criticisms of Chu's character were well after the criticisms of his strategy were popular. Same strategy used by former and later players without the vitriol from the audience.

And some people, like me for example, were annoyed that people and media were going nuts over a dude just doing the most basic strategy and acting like he was a Jeopardy god. There was a huge media push over the "OMG HE DID A TIE ON PURPOSE!" moment.
