One of the small things in Luann that annoys me for no good reason is the fact that they jumped through a bazillion hoops to ensure that we never got to see Tiffany's dad from the front and then suddenly out of nowhere we get a reveal that is not particularly interesting or dramatic. It's as if the grownups in the Peanuts cartoon just suddenly walked into frame without any acknowledgement of the running gag that we only hear their waah-waah from off screen.

Killing him is a valid option. Arthur is playing a risky game. Val is tactically very useful, but his strategic powerbase is built on those nobles and their support. Shaming them in the eyes of the king invites reprisals and costly blood feuds.
