thinking about that kandahar documentary that received unusually wide distribution because it had the good luck to come out shortly after nine eleven only to almost immediately disappear from the zeitgeist once people saw it and realized that absolutely nothing in the movie gave any indication that anyone in afghanistan taliban or otherwise had any strong opinions about americans at all
