Holy poo poo, speaking of ads. I just remembered the other day: any of y'all got those Youtube ads for the pangolin, this endangered scaly anteater? My partner and I are both real sensitive to animal death, and this fuckin' ad SUCKS. It shows a hunter firing his gun into some bushes, but it's kinda hard to see what's going on so it's not too bad. But literally the next shot is some guy...disembowling? Skinning? a dead pangolin and I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THIS, YOUTUBE! It's only a second-long shot but it's enough to tell exactly what's happening and be upset by it. We've reported the ad several times but lord knows that won't do anything. (Yes, we normally use an ad blocker, but unfortunately the Youtube app on the PS4 doesn't have one.)

You can report or flag an ad, but they're going to send it right back to you the very next video. God forbid you accidentally watched something political, because it's Louder with Crowder in your recommends time and autoplaying even though you turned it off. Youtube desperately wants the "leftists, centrists and nazis screaming at eachother" engagement numbers of other platforms.

I've been using Vanced on my android phone but sometimes I use the iPad and get ads Other than the usual McDonald's, fake game and genshin impact ads I may get - video of crying (then dying) Palestinian children for a scam charity org - some dude still doing the "pointing at car and shelves of self help books" - a financial motivational speaker whose video comprise his vacation photos with his wife, his advice is "invest in this dubious grey market scheme where we buy gold and silver in China" - scam Bangladesh ads of bollywood songs, slideshow featuring dancing women, weddings, mosques, crying elderly people in a village - 5 hour slide show of a Chinese seafood restaurant featuring photos of patrons celebrating private occasions - video of smiling children in an orphanage, asking you to donate money for their coffins I'm assuming these have to be effective because they repeat

Lol I mean... I'm not an expert on dating sims but it seems like a bunch of people are mad because an otherwise fun and lighthearted game that's even available on the Switch suddenly incorporates a villain character stalking and harassing the player. I am guessing a lot of players are extremely weirded out by this. Obviously the voice actor shouldn't be harassed for it, but it seems kinda disingenuous to just act like they're complaining about fictional villainy in general. If a Nintendo game suddenly included an unexpected rape plot people would understandably freak out, and for plenty of people stalking is not that far from that level.
