All the drive-thrus I can think of are all in strip malls with ample parking, but sure if there is no parking I understand that.

Americans treat their cars as an extension of their living rooms and, let's face it, we're some of the laziest motherfuckers around. Also, lol @ interacting with the help any more than necessary.Midjack posted:Also the main interstate (66) that runs into DC is express toll inside the beltway during rush hours. I've seen it as high as $45 on the sign when I drive past then interchange and it's beaten that a couple of times but gently caress paying for that. That actually confused the hell out of me the first time I visited the D.C. area. It sucked wondering if I was gonna get charged for tolls (no transponder) until I read more about it. Tolls suck, especially the I-95 toll between Baltimore and the Delaware state line. Memento posted:https://i.imgur.com/LKpF4KX.mp4 I commend him for not immediately hopping out and beating the hell out of that guy. That could have had an uglier ending.

Guinness posted:Americans love drive-thrus so much that they will spend 20 minutes waiting in the drive-thru line rather than park and go inside for 5 minutes. In the drive through, there's one, maybe two people who have an opportunity to cough/sneeze on me, and most of them have to wear masks. Like hell I'm going in so I can have every idiot breathe on me and then argue that I shouldn't be wearing a mask.

With the workforce shift most places won't have dine in options much longer. The new McDonald's design has minimal dining room space and a tiered drive through for increased traffic.

I really want a nice eMTB. I can use it for the 24 mile round trip to work and also cane it on the weekend, it'd reduce my car usage to virtually gently caress all. I could just sell them all and be free of this hell

I love the shade he throws about the oil change valve too. I heard horror stories about those things ruining oil pans if they hit something but I never imagined I’d ever hit anything there, I’ve been using them for a decade… my wife managed to find a way.

This is stunningly shortsighted because this will be over one way or another in a couple of years and people absolutely will want free refills, air conditioning, and restrooms in 2024. I'll be interested to see how many of these drive thru only stores actually get built.

A friend of mine showed me the video they sent him from a bmw service after doing oil and plugs. It was like a 10 second shot of the car sitting outside with the guy saying something like sir your car is ready. Definitely worth it for the $500 they charged

Lots of drive through coffee stands, photo developers (lol not for a while though), Sonic, other drive-in only “restaurants”. I know for me curbside pickup has been something I never used before all of this but even when it’s over I’m going to continue getting my groceries that way. gently caress grocery shopping. I think a lot of the logistical changes due to covid will stick around far after it’s gone.

I agree that there are some places where it makes sense and takeout in general will probably be more frequent across all consumer service sectors, but last summer there were some breathless "the White Castle of the future won't have seats AT ALL" which is just dumb. Case in point, grocery pickup is fine if you're just getting stuff in boxes and cans but I had at least three juice and milk lids not screwed down all the way and which made a mess over the last year, and I only made the mistake of letting them select my fresh produce one time.

Rallys whole thing is no dine in. 20 years ago Pizza Hut remodeled half their stores into carry out only. And with the workforce shift there won't be anyone willing to work bullshit jobs where people get lovely about too much ice in their drink and attack the cashier over it anymore.

If a one hour photo is in your top two drive thru only places we know two things. It's not very common and you're over 40 if not 50. I can't come up with any others. I can only think of other regular businesses with drive thru, bank, pharmacy, liquor, seedy motel. Hit them all for a fun night. Oh, car washes.
