Personally, never watch streamers - Mostly because I don’t want to validate what is apparently a Venn diagram of a loving circle where the overlap is ‘broken in the loving brain’.

However, watching people like the Discord crew is extremely loving cool.

Same. Just did the big Verdansk thing with a bunch of complete strangers and that was a lot of explosions to listen to just to watch a trailer lol.

I like to get super high and play them (especially with cheats like slow motion mode).

This looks to be the WaW remake that the newest MW was. Too bad they left such a sour taste in my mouth with how much they bungled multiplayer in the last two games by hitching them together.

This will likely be my "get it for 15$ off during BF" deal if it happens. Otherwise I can wait until spring.

Which old consoles? If it’s 270 total that’s nearly half of the PS5s storage.

I think 270 for Vanguard makes sense if you consider that it includes the SP Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, AND Warzone. What's Warzone + a Cold War install run on a PS5 right now? Isn't it close to 125Gb just for BLOPSCW + another 100Gb for Warzone?

uh so I had no idea about this but...

In both apex and warzone your recoil is massively reduced if you are moving your reticle while shooting. This commonly applies if:
  • you are tracking a moving target
  • you are strafing and tracking a stationary/moving target
  • you move your reticle around in small circles rapidly
  • you jitter your reticle laterally back and forth rapidly

RCarr

Someone posted a video showcasing this not too long ago

EDIT: here’s the post

oh yeah I found a good video of how "sticky" you can make the aim assist (timestamp 7m0s in)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJHHbC6O7DU&t=419s

I have a hypothesis that if someone nudges their stick in the right direction and matches your strafe on maxed aim assist at a close distance, even suddenly laterally tac-sprint jumping may not break the controller aim assist stickiness and you'll get beamed the entire way with every bullet. This would not be humanly possible on a mouse and keyboard because of reaction times unless you predict a sudden tac sprint jump.

Wait. YOU posted this!

Basically if you want to ensure you get crippling RSI by very very quickly jittering your wrist, while tracking your target, you can have no recoil in most of the popular modern shooters.

What's the underlying code reason for recoil "working" like this?

comedyblissoption
Mar 15, 2006

the reasoning is probably that they wanted to simplify tracking moving targets, especially at close range, which is the bulk of gameplay in apex

I had played apex a bunch and did not realize this and was trying to control recoil patterns while tracking :negative:

warzone seems to do a softer version of this and it greatly simplifies tracking targets especially for controllers in combination with the standard rotational aim assist

comedyblissoption
Mar 15, 2006

The effect in warzone (on m&k) is not as dramatic as it feels like for me as on apex, although it is absolutely there.

Some interesting questions:

When rotational aim assist is active, does it further reduce recoil because the reticle is considered moving the entire time and is the recoil reduction more dramatic? How about in tandem with slight player inputs?

This may explain robotic beam like tracking on high fovs you see from sweaty PC controller players which might look like an [illegitimate] aimbot sometimes but is absolutely not.

It's interesting that this is blowing up now, given that this has been a known thing for a long time now. This is how the aim assist boost on cronus functions: enabling it causes the cronus to constantly input a tiny circle, essentially recreating the jitter movements posted earlier, so that the aim assist never turns off even if the player stops all inputs.

comedyblissoption
Mar 15, 2006

how can you tell it is cronus and not just standard PC rotational aim assist?

In that vid, he gets 0 aim assist when he is ADS'ed and has 0 inputs which might actually be unlike certain cronus aim assist settings. He only gets the aim assist when he holds down the back movement direction

according to this guy the cronus circular aim input abuse causes a noticeable jitter when idle swaying which is not visible in that twitch.tv aim assist vid, although he does say there are other ways to get the cronus aim assist abuse without the jitter

also keep in mind that there is a PC controller setting called "Scale Aim Assist with FOV" that when disabled significantly improves aim assist at higher fovs, so comparing aim assist videos without knowing what those settings are might be apples and oranges

I am just pointing out that what's happening in the video you posted -- which is, the guy is putting an absolutely tiny, but constant, amount of input in, is the same theory behind how Cronus's 'boosted' aim assist works, not saying he's using a cronus.
