I can't remember the website, but when I lived in Oakland there was a site you could order lunch from, the menu changed every day and it only had like 5 choices, but you ordered and it showed up in 20 minutes. They were in the black but shut it down because they couldn't find anyone to buy it from them. It was cheap too, like an insane amount of work went into figuring this out.

Yeah, all the ultra capitalists whining on Twitter about no one wanting to work these days is especially funny after realizing that these people now only create businesses to sell them as quickly as possible and then set the place on fire and run away.

My favorite was a guy running a roofing company complaining he couldn't get workers at $18 an hour like he used to, slowly raised the wages in his ads all the way up to $25 an hour and finally got a couple applicants. Median wage for construction is $36ish, higher for roofers because that includes the risk of falling off a roof.

No it's fine. Now obviously it would be far to expensive to hire people to enforce our new policy. The investors wouldn't approve. Instead we'll simply use an algorithm, which will quickly and efficent - *WEBSITE CATASTOPHICALLY IMPLODES*

This utter loon is somehow convinced that, while Victorians need to have lost income to get the covid disaster payment, people in other states are getting it just for living in or visiting an affected area. This despite the fact that the wording on the different pages listing the requirements for each state and territory is identical, and multiple people are telling her this and linking the actual website to prove it.

Reminiscent of my old practice manager who was CONVINCED that you could fly over to Aus and not only get 3x the dole, but also have a whole decked out fully furnished house waiting for you, and then the next day they'd take you to the banks and set you up with that sweet sweet government payment. Absurd as gently caress, as she immigrated from Iran decades ago, but she's CONVINCED that that's how it is now, and super angry about file bludgers. No, me explaining that my family were poor as hell and I had to fight to get youth allowance at 16 for uni, and that it's basically nothing, would not sway her because "these people they come in and get given all the money". Weird as hell seeing that rhetoric used by someone it's usually used against. Also would kill for that lump sum for living in a spicy LGA, because I quit my insanely stressful med reception job in Fairfield, an hour away, a week ago because because the screaming abuse from patients for asking them to get covid tests and like, pay for their specialist appointments was too much for me. Didn't know I could just get money for no reason

Credit card companies don't give a poo poo about charge backs because they still keep their cut. It's not "someone paid 20 bucks, we give you 19.99 and keep a penny (I don't know the percentages, I know it's higher than that) and if we get a charge back we take that 19.99 back." It's "someone paid 20 bucks, we give you 20 bucks and charge you a penny, and if some does a chargeback we take back the $20 and also keep the penny we charged."
