That looks like silly amounts of fun! Though i'd battle the Transit in the 205. 205s are definitely more fun to drive than Twingos. I owned a twingo for a while, and it's still a whole lot of fun zooming past other, much faster cars in corners - and hearing the itty bitty 4 cylinder committee resound through tunnels when you absolutely floor it, to overtake the people who are too stupid to give their cars a bit more throttle on the uphill bits.

I wouldn't have minded as much if I was easily able to watch them in the UK but of course they made it as awkward as possible so I gave up trying. Such a shame. At one point a friend decided to VPN and download the episodes for a few friends to watch but it became such an arse we all just hosed it off.

Roadkill could have been a good show, I don't know the details of Motor Trend being involved but they clearly hosed it up. They would have been better off producing it on their own and just keeping it on youtube, or waiting for netflix to pick it up or something. Assuming a bunch of people would subscribe to Motor Trend just to watch it was a big mistake, now the show is dead.

Big fan of the fact that a lot of recent roadkill eps are freiburger and Tony instead of Finnegan. Tony is a much cooler and more stand up dude imo. Definitely found dirt every day to be more exciting than roadkill these days. Of course I don't watch any of it since my mt subscription is gone.

It seems like all of my car friends do the usual complaining about democrats and masks and refugees etc. I need better car friends. So you end up with a lot of people getting into it because 'that's what big strong manly badass dudes do' and then engaging in a lot of toxic, overly aggressive behavior that's only encouraged by the general car culture. And then in turn that drives away anyone that doesn't neatly fit the mold, which only makes the space more outwardly performatively masculine, which only attracts more dudebros... The internet's been doing a lot of good work to help change that but it's still something that's very deeply rooted in and has been for many decades. Though... it does almost feels like there's something else to it besides that. Speaking from my own perspective as someone who's queer as heck, amongst all my various friends (also queer), cars are without a doubt the fastest way to get them to either shut their brain off or shut the conversation down. Folks who will happily explain the nerdy technical minutia of speedrunning tech or whatever, the moment you go and say 'hey I got a new car and I'm excited about it' they'll be really quick to go 'cool but I'm not all that interested in cars'. Almost like anything car related is kryptonite to queer people or something.

I am a kid who grew up with firearms, drives a diesel one ton and a fondness for Copenhagen dip and also would be considered very left wing, like well left of the democratic party. I imagine I'm middle of the road for a lot of European countries though. Car culture is the worst, like firearms culture, so I try to go against the grain and be a positive influence in those spaces. Well, I did in the past. Since 2017 or so I've just kept my mouth shut.

Not American but the car community seems pretty similar unfortunately. It's hard to tell usually since there aren't any Maga hats but any time some new tech comes up, it's a huge circlejerk on who can poo poo on it the most. Hybrids? Don't work and are expensive to fix. EVs? Everyone needs to drive 1000km non-stop and batteries will die in 2 years, and anyway electricity isn't 100% renewable so it's actually worse than ICE and what if a tornado tears down the power lines. There are also very few women, like often there wouldn't be one driver/owner at a cars&coffee, which doesn't help.
