Also the person who inspected the fire extinguisher worked for an unregulated private company so it doesn't work when they end up using it.

This is absolutely true. The actual physical Infrastructure is crumbling and anywhere from 35-45% of the voting population actively supports a party who runs on not fixing things.

But like this specific example? Water purification failing because we lack the ability to create enough oxygen for the patients dying from a virus one of the most powerful gop politicians in the country is downplaying? That�s bizarre.

Almost as strange as like an ice storm freezing wind power plants in Texas.
