I always liked Lance, great all rounder and could work pretty much anywhere on the card and be good need a workers hall of fame for all the dudes who did the thing every night and turned in good/great performances but never really had enough IT factor to be the top guy

Vince approved it, then my memory fails me of Lance's explanation why plans changed. Shame, Lance is wildly underrated and probably would have been a great foil for Cena. He was absolutely good enough to be world champ.

Logically they should punish the guys in the opening segment for loving talking forever, but instead WWE appreciated that the wrestling could just be cut down. Related to the current talk: I'm glad that AEW always books the wrestling as more important, and even CM Punk returning wasn't the main event.

I think this speaks to what you are saying about "character work". In so much as you can have a guy thats big and muscly and says all the cool things, but if he can't tell the story of a big muscly cool guy in the ring, then it doesn't work.
