Y'know, as a Packers fan, I legitimately think that Bears fans should be extremely excited about Fields. His pedigree from college was obviously great, but he's also looked accurate, smart, and athletic this preseason. 23/39 for 222 yards and one touchdown + nine rushes for 79 yards and another touchdown is a good start. I'd be concerned about Nagy and the Bears o-line, so maybe this year isn't shaping up to be incredible, but the future looks promising. I think the only play across both games that would alarm me is Fields loving up the pre-snap o-line shift in this game and getting rocked on his blind side. He bounced back from that one, but a play like that can be a season-ender; that was scary.

i know that they haven't been playing everyone but the Bears' starters on both sides of the ball have been completely appalling every single snap they played except one lucky catch by some guy i've never heard of. Preseason means nothing but I think bears are going to be Real Bad.

Pace HAS put together a really good defense. He's cap limited by some bad choices of his own making, but Foles' and Dalton's money are coming off the books next year and the cap should go up rather than down like it did after COVID hell. Odds are we're going to lose Robinson as well, which is terrible from the on the field standpoint but a lot of cash back to try and patch holes. So long as Fields pans out, the extra cash could be used to increase our chances. So...maybe. 2) Actually, yes. Nagy took MITCH to the playoffs twice. Give him a QB capable of actually running the drat playbook and he could be really good. 3) And this is why I don't want to lose Pace and Nagy. Because whatever our complaints about them...and they are valid...these two are the best we've had at GM and Head Coach in years and I do NOT trust the McCaskeys or Ted Phillips' search firm to not make things worse. The Lions looked better when Blough got in. Also seemed to run a completely different offense, too. Seemed less generic. And oh my god is Tavai literally the worst player on the field, every single game. Like, hole in zone levels of bad.

Is the Bears defense good? When I look at the Bears roster all I see is the impact of trading all the picks in the past starting to catch up. You have no margin of error and boy the Quinn signing, relying on Tevin this year etc look like freaking errors. I mean you have to do the Fields trade every time, but this won’t be a patch in FA situation. Going to freaking waste the end of Hicks and Mack’s prime and I assume Robinson fucks off next year.
