They could have built a treehouse in the branches or a regular house on the ground next to the tree or something, but I guess that wouldn't go along with Holbrook's usual gimmick of characters making life-altering decisions for other people without their involvement. Come to think of it, this plot is kind of similar to the Mars plot in the other comic.

The first trait that Betty ever assigned herself was Loki.

It could've been a slam dunk. Current Popular Thing was something that could've worked as a plot device since it had an established connection to Betty. But previous events or characteristics don't matter because Reddick apparently doesn't care enough to keep track of it.
