Yikes, it sounds like you had the rug pulled out from under you. It's not like "stop the war" and the "he looked like one" war at home weren't connected, either.

I hope it didn't sound like I was shrugging off the type of experience you ended up having. My couch potato hot take on aiming too wide shouldn't overrule a shoes-on-pavement experience, or disqualify the slap in the face that "we'll get to you later"-ism can be.

I didn't read it as contradictory, my intent was to lend support to the "pulling in multiple directions" take.

He is, he's making a non-apology effort and he's not admitting he did anything wrong by phrasing it that way. He might as well have said "after we agreed to disagree yesterday".

They could have built a treehouse in the branches or a regular house on the ground next to the tree or something, but I guess that wouldn't go along with Holbrook's usual gimmick of characters making life-altering decisions for other people without their involvement. Come to think of it, this plot is kind of similar to the Mars plot in the other comic.

I learned something about Intelligent Life today that makes it even worse for me.

Nevermind the fact that Betty and Mike already met on Halloween 2016

The first trait that Betty ever assigned herself was Loki.

It could've been a slam dunk. Current Popular Thing was something that could've worked as a plot device since it had an established connection to Betty. But previous events or characteristics don't matter because Reddick apparently doesn't care enough to keep track of it.
