Lucha Bros haven't had a title shot in a while (and the Bucks are prime to drop the belts), Penelope Ford needs something to do (and pairing her with HFO gives her a tag partner for women's tags), and Omega eating a loss but not eating a pin helps build the All Out match.

I can't help but wonder how the sudden pull of The Acclaimed affected the tag tournament. I feel like they would've gone over the Varsity Blonds a week or two before the announcement and taken their spot, kinda literally putting the Blonds in their place at the bottom of the top ranks. JE vs LB is probably too good a match to miss out on, but it'd probably make a bit more sense if Acclaimed beat Jurassic Express (via cheating), LB beat Private Party, and then LB beat The Acclaimed. So the Bros go through the top tag heels on their way to Young Bucks.
