quote:

While poison control officials in Mississippi are warning the public about adverse reactions among residents who ingest a horse deworming medicine to treat COVID-19, some Republican legislators in Tennessee are suggesting the treatment should be normalized.

The conversation in Wednesday's joint Government Operations committee turned to controversial COVID-19 therapeutics after two speakers during public comments brought up the drugs, despite the issue not appearing anywhere on the committee's agenda for the day.

....

"I would say it's an issue that deserves consideration," said Rep. John Ragan, R-Oak Ridge, the chairman of the House government operations committee, in an interview on Friday. "The generalities seem to indicate that therapeutics are something that need to be explored more in terms of availability to patients and information availability to patients."

...

A woman speaking during the Thursday meeting who said her name was Amber Purdue and identified herself only as a "research assistant" suggested that members of the General Assembly could advocate for the use of non-FDA-approved drugs to treat the virus, despite the federal agency warning against doing so in most cases.

"Federal guidance is just guidance," she said. "You as the legislators in this state have the power to say we're going to use ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine or budesonide as treatments or therapeutics in the treatment of COVID-19, which is obviously recognized as a pandemic."

i think charisma is a natural modifier for covid resistance since you might get better access to care due to networking ability to create opportunities early i.e. pay to play

too many variables in the IRL system though so this only works in certain conditions

Today they send a VERY vague email out saying basically 'only critical staff are in our buildings globally, the vast majority will continue remote work until it is possible to safely allow more staff into the building following extensive floor plan renovations'. They're trying to not pull the trigger on saying 2022 like a bunch of other companies have, but we're definitely not going back this year. which rules really hard

yeah but I think the specific reason he seems so charismatic to people who like him is specifically because the world of US politics is so devoid of anybody with anything resembling a human personality that he towered among the rest like a golden god because he was stupid and funny

in most other contexts I think he's just a regular freak

if you have 16 minutes here’s a short doc about a woman in Alabama who got 96% of her town vaccinated just by talking to everyone and then arranging for a pop up to come

Alabama is 36% fully vaccinated.

In good news, it looks like 48% of Alabama has one shot, suggesting that their vaccination rate suddenly jumped recently
