I still say the Seahawks didn't need to spend their one high draft pick on a WR, but I am looking forward to a Metcalf/Lockett/Eskridge lineup that could be killer.

I think he just played the first half, but he really was in on every play on defense. Jonah Williams also looked really good, but he's got a pretty big uphill climb to make the roster. JR Reed might beat out Juju Hughes for the fifth safety spot and they look like they finally might have solved their middle linebacker depth issues as well.

I'm watching the replay of the game now, and you're assessment is spot on. I'm glad I'm able to watch the replay without wearing bourbon glasses.

Bojorquez is a good punter, but, man, Hekker is one of the faces of the franchise. It'll be gutting if Hekker is cut. I've been taking it as media hyperbole, though. Hopefully I'm right.

I dunno, even without taking Russ' feelings into account I found the pick pretty solid. The WR depth chart drops off pretty hard after Metcalf and Lockett, especially with David Moore gone. Plus, getting someone who can work out of the slot and jet sweeps and still be a home run threat might help attack the two high safety look that the team couldn't solve last year.

Scrolling through Defector's WYTS: Seahawks comments and they're a delight:

quote:

I always enjoy seeing who other Seahawks fans think make up the "bad" part of the fanbase.

Is it the south end trash from Kent, Auburn, Renton? Is it the privileged Eastsider's from Bellevue? Are the worst fans the racist old Boeing workers who still love Steve Largent? Is it the entitled new fans who only showed up this century and never earned their fandom in the 80's & 90's? Is it the rich pricks from Microsoft and Amazon who inflate the price of game tickets and fly a 12 flag from their Teslas? Is it the redneck construction workers who shell out their hard earned money for season tickets every season and fly 12 flags from their jacked up F-150's? Is it the fans who openly mock and hate anyone who refers to themselves or other fans as "12's" or is it the people who embrace calling themselves the "12's" like they're part of the team.

I'm pretty sure that the worst Seahawks fans are any of the other fan's who aren't me, cause I'm a damned delight and everyone else is some sort of rear end in a top hat.

quote:

When I agreed to a transfer from Denver to Seattle in 2012, I didn't realize that my new regional manager was a sociopath. But that became stunningly clear when I asked him why he opted to stay in Bellevue instead of Seattle when he came to town and he answered that Bellevue has a better bar and restaurant scene.

Does Rashaad Penny make the 53 man roster? I can’t tell if he only got a few snaps because he’s experienced and the Seahawks didn’t want to risk injury, or if they saw everything they needed to see and decided to give someone else the reps.

Hea definitely making the roster. I'm not trying to read too much into his preseason performance just based on how bad the oline backups have been. He was looking pretty good until he got hurt. They've seen what he can do and based upon his injury history probs keeping it safe

Yeah the RB depth chart has been pretty set in stone for a while, they were always going to keep these 4 guys:

Carson -- Starter
Penny -- Backup/spell guy
Homer -- Stinks as a runner, but they value his pass protection
Dallas -- Can play special teams, potential second-year leap

(shoutout to honorary FB Nick Bellore, who played like 36 positions in the preseason)

Good morning!
Alex Collins likely made himself a roster spot this weekend, if not with Seattle then with some other NFL team. I agree that Penny likely makes the roster.

It was fun seeing Dee Eskridge and Darrell Taylor get going too. And Waldron had the offense actually snapping the ball with 20 seconds left on the clock! Miracles do exist.

Apparently Alex Collins was having fumbling issues in camp so that may be the issue, even if it didn't show up in preseason games.

That was a consistent problem with him last time he was on the team too. Probably earned some money somewhere though, if not in Seattle.

I'm shocked Lawler wasn't signed to the 53 man roster, and poor Dont'e can't catch a break.. I gotta believe Lawler won't clear waivers.

They get to sign 16 guys to the practice squad (with two per week brought up on a week to week basis).

They don't bring back Akers and Blanton?

Eric Banks was claimed by the Chargers and Rozeboom signed onto the Chiefs PS. I thought they really liked Blanton so I think he will be back on the PS, though it will be hard to break onto the roster even next year.

Akers was the first to officially sign onto the PS
