The right image is the ACTUAL land mass of Louisiana, displaying the land still there that hasn't washed away into the Gulf of Mexico or destroyed by storms. The right image is how much of Louisiana is left on a physical level. The official maps have not been updated since 2000 to avoid panicking people and also because making more updated maps is pointless given the state is falling into the sea at the rate of 1 football field per hour, or roughly 75 kilometers of landmass per year. It's eroding too quickly to map

It’s cool that a bunch of people seem to think that preparing for things is impossible. that the only way to respond to an incoming hurricane is to do literally all of the emergency planning and execution in like two days, instead of preparing all that stuff in advance.

people can’t even imagine what preparations, things that would enable something like doing a contra flow or getting some busses, would even be.

if hundreds of kids died in a school fire and there weren’t fire codes I imagine Americans would loudly argue that getting hundreds or thousands of kids out of a building is just not feasible. it’s just too hard.
