Woke up this morning to a Twitter notification for PS5 restock at the local target, so I hopped on that and snagged the console plus spider man Miles Morales!

drat this thing is a chonker... it's even going to require a new HDMI cable apparently. I'm just glad to be done with weeks of failed attempts to buy one before they go out of stock, this whole process has been absurd. I can't believe that inventory and scalping is this bad almost a whole year after launch... I just figured I'd wait it out until the new horizon game launched, but that was clearly wishful thinking

I remember the same thing happening with the Wii. Called around and no one had them in stock for like, weeks and weeks.

Then one day I went into a Target on a whim, and there one was! I bought it, drove it home... looked at my bank account... and drove back and returned it. I'm glad I'm not broke anymore.

REI has their Nemo Stargazer hammock chairs on sale for labor day, so I picked one up there and one off Moosejaw (who was running a similar 20% off sale)

Totally unsure how long it'll last, but feels pretty skookum and is super comfy with a footrest! I can already tell it's gonna be tough getting up to move around the campfire to escape the shifting smoke with this chair

They really up the price here in Finland on these, this bottle is almost 90 euros, I think it's like 60 euros in other countries. Which is why I haven't bought this in a very long time, when caol ila is so much cheaper and almost as nice.

I’ve got one and it’s nbd. Just grab the top section of each of the poles and press inward a bit to keep tension on the joints while you just pick it up and move it. Doesn’t weigh anything to begin with.

What's the use case for this over a normal camp chair? If you're glamping, why not just use a non-fiddly chair? If you're not, the $2 CCF pad works just fine.

Is it supposed to be more comfy?

This is why the boat exists. You get a coupon, pay IDK 7€ or whatever for a poo poo cabin, go to the buffet, then hit the shop and save 300€ on discount booze. They even kindly tell you what the prices in Alko and Systembolag are.

Or you could go to the Baltics I guess but it's a longer trip unless you live in Leningrad Oblast

More in the sense that it'll be tough to build up the motivation to get up because it's so comfortable :D

I can definitely see myself saying gently caress it, the smoke will shift eventually

It's just more comfortable, and you can lean back, look up at the sky, and rock. I've got the accordion foam pad to set up against a tree for backpacking, but my folding chair for car camping was due to be replaced and I got to try this on my last trip and really liked it. It's also not really fiddly, pretty much the same as a helinox folding chair.

By the end, there were close to 200. I was probably half way through the line and I only showed up 2 hours before they started handing out tickets. Still out of 3080s by the time they got to me.

How was the bottle? I've always been a bourbon guy, but I've recently been wanting to try some good scotch. Wasn't keen on the campfire taste of Jameson, but I have had some other scotch that I've really liked in the past and have no recollection of what the heck it was

If you find Jameson to have a campfire taste Islay scotch might not be for you then. (I do not,, it's an interesting taste to get out of it.) Definitely try a sample somewhere before you drop down for a bottle. It tastes like iodine, the grain is dried over a smouldering peat fire which instills a rotting bog water essence that people are crazy over. Jameson is my go-to evening drink, but I despise Islay scotch. Anyways there is probably a booze thread somewhere. :v:

My 3060ti should arrive tomorrow, because a local goon I know got a better card in the meantime and gave me his slot in EVGA's line for the 3060ti he signed up for last fall. It had been so long I forgot I was trying to find one to replace my 970, and then I forgot again that it should arrive tomorrow until this post reminded me. Looking forward to trying to find free time to play the games I've been putting off for the past year until I got a new card.

The last time I was at micro enter I saw the only cards they had were like mud tier gt710 type stuff and the most expensive specced 3090’s and I had to think really hard how much money I’d need to have before I just said “fine I’ll just get that.” The answer is way more than I have or will have

I love my MX4s but just watch out for the moisture issue. If you wear them for long periods of time or don't leave them cup up to air out, they will start to develop a weird random scratchy sound that goes away once they fully dried out. I've heard some people recommend putting desiccant packets in the case or ears when you are not wearing them to prevent this. Otherwise they have been really great and have been my daily drivers for work conference calls for nearly a year.

ReidRansom
Oct 25, 2004

Thanks for the heads up on that. I've got a big bag of desiccant packs I bought a few years ago to throw in like our go bags and emergency kits and whatnot, can't hurt to toss a few in the carrying case for the headphones.
