For years, the Carolina Hurricanes have either been laughed at , forgotten about, or looked down on.

For the past few years , Carolina made things fun, had storm surges, and all we got was to be called a bunch of jerks.

Well, if you want to call Carolinas bunch of jerks, we will live up to that name.

For our first pick, Carolina selects:

Brad Marchand

Yeah we've been kind of bad with the clock but the Duck is up until 6:59 Eastern. I know he's getting owned by work right now, so he might come in under the deadline.

fake edit: Heh come.

real edit: Lol never mind, Yaya is up until 7:57 Eastern.

So I guess Arabian Jesus time is up, I think to be fair to the guy since his pick came up late in the night maybe Menthelmoose can make his selection but otherwise we wait till tomorrow morning and give him until 10 EST to get his pick in? If he's still absent when the clock starts tomorrow we can move on?

up to menthelmoose since he has the clock until tomorrow morning.

I updated the sheet for you.

With the 14th pick, the Washington Capitals select Artemi Panarin.

e: we might want to get in the habit of tagging whoever is up next.

Drunk Canuck is up next, clock starts at 10am so their window runs until NOON.

The real fun of living wisely is that you get to be smug about it.

I always seem to get stuck with off-brand goaltending in these drafts. Well, enough! The Winnipeg Jets are very excited and proud select the best goalie in the entire league, a Vezina winner who will have to singlehandedly carry a group of mediocre, poorly-coached skaters to some middling amount of post-season success: Andrei Vasilevskiy.

The Toronto Maple Leafs select all-around Canadian hero and future Stanley Cup Champion Brayden "Scores Lotta Playoff" Point(s), along with his discounted long-term contract. This way, any future first round playoff exits are not my fault.

My bad, for some reason, I looked at the spreadsheet incorrectly. But I'd still say 17th overall seems right for Point. Maybe a little earlier would make sense, but I don't know if any of the forwards selected ahead of him are clearly not-as-good choices.

I was debating Point, Barkov, Pettersson and two other untaken forwards (Tyler Johnson????) at 9 but that's mostly because of age, the rest of the forwards all make sense.

I don't know if the data carries it out but it certainly seems like Aho is able to carry the offensive load on a less talented team. It's hard to say what he could do on a team like the lightning or what Point would do on a team like the Canes but Aho seems to do, if not more, then at least as much with much lesser caliber teammates

It is hard to say, but the data does carry out that Point is much better defensively.
