I mean as someone who's lived in china for half a decade now, it really feels like xi's accelerating his changes. I think they're positive as well. that trickle down quote is bullshit, they've destroyed billions of dollars of valuation of their tech companies for the greater good of society. I'd love to see that happen in america. they're working to actually improve the average lives of workers. if he can pull it off he'll be one of the all time greatest leaders. china's wealthy enough now, let people enjoy it instead of working themselves / educating their kids to death.

There was a tweet I saw earlier about the video game ban that was like “kids can’t play video games, follow their favorite idols or ship characters now, what are they supposed to do in their free time?” And someone replied “hang out with friends or go out to play?” And the op went “this is the most american tweet ever, you have no idea what life is like in communist China”

hosed up that hanging out and playing outside are banned in China

I think it's good that Xi is addressing the gambling in games problem although the real ID portion of it is questionable.

I saw a pretty good post about the gaming law explaining that the underage online gaming problem is "10% of profit generating 90% of the social issue discussion", that's why the regulators and the Tencent of the world kinda reached an agreement to pick on the teenager online gamers. Its so simplistic because Beijing doesn't want to different gaming companies find an easy way to cheat on it.

I mean you can still cheat by having your old man handing you his phone, but all the parental complaints go away because the complicit parents can't complain anymore. They still should fine tune it and allow for a bit longer hours in the weekend IMO.

China is limiting online game time to spur the development of technical learning amongst the most online teen gamers. The teens will find a way around the ban, but they will learn something along the way.

np. i don't know the answer. some friends who read this thread were also talking about it. like, is debt in china subject to contagion or not? or is it just kinda fake with government departments owing money to other departments, and if evergrande defaults, will it matter?
