WWE have been trying to be synonymous with pro wrestling for decades, even if they don't actually want their product to be referred to as pro wrestling. Therefore, when a pro wrestler kills themselves people will turn towards WWE, hence the damage control. The entire industry is an incredibly miserable one and it needs some serious re-evaluation, but no one cares about pro wrestling which is why a corporation that doesn't want to be associated with pro wrestling is the name in pro wrestling.
