A guy did that in Germany. Grabbed a knife at the supermarket and went on a rampage. First person that died was a supermarket employee. Motive was some mental illness / islamism mix iirc

I'm guessing the detail was STG guys and that they must have some provision to be armed, or they had another couple of guys armed waiting in a vehicle outside. Even if they were right outside, 1 minute is a crazy fast response time, will be interesting to see if they release details.

Something I’ve been thinking about lately… and I’m just kind of rambling here: did anyone really think the flu shot was the only annual disease vax/booster we would ever get from now until eternity? That NOTHING else would ever pop up ever in the history of humans ever?

That NOTHING else would ever pop up ever in the history of humans ever? I used to only get the flu-shot and ESME starting in my kid-years, but some time in my mid-twenties, I started getting my tetanus booster every couple of years (like every 6?), so that's two regular and one semi-regular shot, but yeah, I never really thought that there'd be a separate "flu-type" vaccine that would be necessary as a regular vaccination. My understanding of the flu-shot in the past was that the shot is essentially "re-developed" each year due to the annual/seasonal variation-potential of influenza, so I always kinda assumed that we're already essentially re-vaccinating against a "different" virus every couple of years. That a global pandemic would come around with the repercussions and vaccine necessity we see now...yeah, I don't think anyone saw that coming. There's always been the "background-noise" threat of pandemics (SARS, Ebola, etc.), but those never had any impact on global preventive measures

Speaking from my own experience of the proliferation of extreme rainfall events and severe flash flooding being an inevitabilty in tons of places that have never been at risk of flooding before, it's more important than ever to keep Tetanus and Hepatitis vaccinations up to date. If you don't remember the last time you got one, go get one. Also AMA about getting 26" of rain in 24 hours

tetanus is nominally a 10 year booster cycle, usually everybody should've gotten one around the end of high school and with all the vets here I'm sure the army was happy to stick all of you multiple times with it. It's dismayingly easy for me to remember when I'm due because shuttle Columbia exploded while I was on the way back to school from getting my first one.

My dad was retired army, so growing up I got all my shots through armymed regardless. I got to basic and got all the shots again, “because there is no record of it”. They even gave me some childhood shots (like MMR) because they didn’t have the records. Got offered a tetanus booster when I got stabbed in the head by a tree (netting 5 staples), so at least there’s that.
