If genes play a significant role in educational attainment, then perhaps we ought to design our society such that you don’t need a college degree to secure health care. and all it took was alienating everybody on the left who was saying the exact same poo poo about how society should be, but didn't say it ~scientifically~ enough no, its not enough to track educational attainment to parent income/social class and see that it correlates like 1:1. nooo we have to drag polygenic scores into this so some racist jackasses can base their theories of social caste onto it, because social scientists must be idiots who havent thought of doing ~real science~ it is so loving stupid on every level lmao

There's been a lot of work done on intelligence since, anyway that doesn't rely on kinship studies. From my limited understanding, the trick always used by race science weirdos is that intelligence scores between individuals is then extrapolated onto aggregated scores between arbitrarily assigned phenotypes which never hold up scientifically. Ancestry kits have helped feed this idea that you can divide our DNA into five common ancestry races, which is also dumb as hell. Dreylad has issued a correction as of 14:12 on Sep 8, 2021 |

It's also overly deterministic to say that genes explain accomplishment and behavior and smacks of an obsession with genetic hierarchy that's problematic at best.

My neuroscience friend told me that in neural cell gene sequences there's a similar thing to the hypervariable gene sequences of the grabby regions of antibodies. Which is basically an RNG component where your body generates as many conformations as it can so it's got a tool for any infection. I don't know if that's true but if so it'd explain why people get up to whatever wild thoughts they get up to. But like everything to a large extent your genes determine your rough potential and the environment and your response to it determines the actual outcome. In my case I'm a 400 IQ pimp who took a wrong turning somewhere, probably Sonic the Hedgehog
