VR is really loving good now, it's still a small market share but it's def different than virtual boy poo poo and other 90s gimmicks.

Worth a try if you know someone with a headset or there's a vr arcade around near you.

Your not wrong, it's great for parties & stuff.

I've got one of the original Rifts , setting up the camera's and putting up with the cables is getting a bit old so I'm thinking of upgrading.

Anyone got any opinions on the Quest2? it sounds like it'll do the job.

Everyone compares every stimulant to methamphetamine, but methylphenidate is a very close analog of cocaine.

Which game started the whole lobby thing where all the players get to stand around and show off their extensive range of paid cosmetics before the match starts?

I know the WW2 Call of Duty got called out for it, but it must be a lot older.

PUBG had it but that was the same year.

i mean like, counter strike had a part where you stood around for 20 seconds between rounds after you finished buying what you wanted to buy and all you could do was look at the other players. the current cs has paid cosmetics right?

did team fortress 2 have a stand around period?

hobbesmaster posted:

overwatch came out earier and it seems to only be second to fortnite in degree of lootbox poo poo and it has the part before every round where you stand around for 30 seconds waiting for the door to open

It did, though it was for gameplay purposes on attack / defend maps. Defenders got time to set up defenses and get into position to hold off attackers. It also was juuust enough time for medics to build an ubercharge, so every Mach started with a big exciting bang. This was all before TF2 had cosmetics at all, so it was often just a time to taunt, use sprays, get to know your team, and generally gently caress around.

Overwatch KIND OF has a similar justification in that one team gets time to get into defensive positions, though it's much flimsier. There's a handful of characters that benefit from setup, but nothing quite like TF2's engineer where setup can take like a minute or more, thus requiring dedicated time for it. OW's setup time is mostly just an excuse to gently caress around waiting for the match to start and oh hey well while waiting around, why not show off your unique skins and sprays and taunts!!
