Woohoo! It's started. Just watched makuuchi bouts.

Fantastic start for Hoshoryu, and an impressive win for Hokutofuji. Terunofuji is already favorite to win this yusho with the absence of Hakuho, and of course the two ozeki utterly failing to bring their A-game. It's early days yet and day 1 doesn't mean anything at all, but I don't think we should be expecting any surprises this basho.

I haven't gotten to watch day 1 sumo yet but I'm excited to see how our new specialest boy does in his yokozuna debut and how Trasho-beya rolls.

I really want to share that at long, long, long last I finally have my last framing done and my sumo room is 'complete':

The towels are Enho, Hakuho and Tochinoshin. The tegata are TAKAYASU, Hakuho and Kisenosato on the top row, then AOIYAMA and Tochinoshin on the bottom. The wall is on the north side of the apartment so I aligned everyone other than Hakuho (who obviously gets the center) on the east and west sides based on their top ranks because I'm a huge dork.

e: lol there are apparently so few tegata pictures on English language sites that my posts come up in Google for the guys I have
