HQ was a smart show that pretended to dumb, Max is a dumb guy who thinks he's smart, seems like a downgrade to me but who can say what the people watching ESPN at 1 pm during the workday really want.

The only time I ever watched mid day ESPN was when I went to the gym on my lunch break. Now that I work from home and don’t go to the gym, I encounter about 300% less Stephen A on a regular basis. And this is good.

Covering 2% of the games played on actual television (at least as far as ESPN is concerned) is one hell of a way to spin a "big return"

I like how ESPN/ABC shows exactly one NHL game on TV between October 27 and January 5, a period of 10 weeks.

nbc was like this too

in abc's case, saturdays during the fall are completely full with college football and i don't think they want to get killed by the nfl on sundays

NBCSN covered the NHL multiple times a week. ESPN isn’t doing that.

e: Also, the 2019-20 season (before COVID-19 hit) was going to have 109 games on US TV, so that's 30 games we've lost!

Of course I left out that TNT won't be having as bad a dry spell during the fall; they're airing 14 games during the 10-week period I chose to highlight.

It just looks funny that ESPN is essentially taking a 10-week break from hockey during the season.

in any case, i see that this is certainly a way to get hockey people to get espn+
