In Encased, your skills go up to 150.
I asked in their Discord what exactly those points do and I'm being told that for things like ranged weapons it gives a higher accuracy.
I can't actually find this info anywhere so may have to take it at face value.
So, there are books and magazines that give +stats.
Magazines say temporary while books say just +stats.

So people are saying they have taken their weapons up to 165 if you save your books until you've maxed your skill.
For some skills, more points just gives higher abilities and nothing extra.

But since there is no wiki, figured I would pass on info that may be right.
I tend to find it hard to trust people on game Discords if I sound a little leery.

On a lighter note, I found an old school ring puzzle game that gives 1380xp when solved

e: And on a funny note, there have been multiple people asking how to find their armor because they took it off and cant remember where they left it.

Strong stroll for a mangy stray
I little surprised to say that Tails of Iron is a really awesome game. I thought it looked interesting but I guess I didn't expect it to be such a polished, well designed and well crafted game. It looks great if you like the art style, tons of work put into every inch, very nicely standardized which helps to make the world feel real. Story isn't fancy but totally works, and I love how the animals make their noises and then pictures appear in a speech bubble to tell you what they're saying it's so cute

But the most crucial thing is the combat where I feel like they made a bunch of smart design choices. There's a shield, one handed weapon, two handed weapon, and ranged weapon all that you can use at any time. And there' are multiple kinds of enemy attacks which all have to be dealt with in different ways i.e. parry, block, dodge, etc. All of them are clearly signposted so while it's easy to get killed the first few times you do a fight it's also easy to get better fast and come up with plans of attack that will work well. Enemies are nicely varied and require different strategies to defeat, which can get complicated when there are multiple enemies to fight. Bosses are challenging but don't overdo it. Most of all I like that they didn't include a stamina meter, I kind of loving hate stamina meters to be honest but especially in a game like this.

Anyways yeah, very impressive showing from Odd Bug Studios, who apparently made Eldest Souls as well which came out pretty recently and was also really good. From what I read it's not all that long, somewhere under ten hours. Which is a little unfortunate just because of how good it is.

Yeah it runs at 720 when windowed and when you full screen it through the game it gets a little blurry. Devs are supposedly fixing it.

A lossless scaling app might give you a better result, haven't had a chance to experiment with it.

Starting out with high High-Tech Weapons skill I also don't think I've ever seen less than 100% accuracy on my main character, while my damage has always stayed the same, so I started assuming pretty quickly that weapons skills just increase your Precision and nothing else. Probably not much point in increasing it past 150 once you have all the abilities, except maybe for edge cases with enemies that are extremely hard to hit.

Encased people: have you talked to Crump after building up rep with him? It's a fun bit of character-building for him, do it if you haven't. If you have (or don't care): his passionate defense of Mark Rothko came out of nowhere and was funny as heck to me, a person who is too young for 1970s pop culture stuff (born in '79), mostly because the rest of the game doesn't have much of it.
Yoko's kind of boring but very useful in combat. Katarzyna is a whiny loser who sucks. Cheerful Jack seems okay (and he's the only one Crump likes). I haven't used Sparrow very much so I don't have an opinion on them yet. I still don't have the fox-mask weirdo, but I read they were at the basement fighting ring, which is the one sidequest in Junktown I didn't pursue at all because my character is a non-combat-solutions expert (highest skills are Influence and Criminal, though I do have Psionics as my 3rd tagged skill).

How do you get a car? I just finished Act 1 and got to the City to talk to Nakamura. I thought helping that dude out with his (in the parking lot at Magellan) would have something to do with it, but nope, he just drove off (and then stood around in the parking lot until yesterday's patch, which apparently fixed him). I'd like a vehicle before I head down to Carmine Heights.

I havent even found Crump after act 1.

So there is a guy you talk to that mentions something about a train thats free for the taking.
Problems are I dont remember where he is, maybe in the City through Junktown.
And I dont know where i'm supposed to go, dont see anything on my map.
But its a truck large enough to leave your armor standing in, I think.
Its name is Ursula.
There is also a car option, but havent seen one either.

Companion stuff for the people I have, in case anyone else is missing anyone:
Crump is in the bar in Junktown being hassled by the cops. I think you might need positive Orange wing reputation to actually get him to join you (after the fight).
Katarzyna is the lady at the Junktown gate asking to be escorted to Magellan. Some time after you bring her there, you'll get a message from her. She's in the lab on the medical level, and if you talk to her there, you can ask her to join you.
Sparrow is at the caravan that the night guard at Roadside Picnic asks you to check out. I think they won't join you if you kill the Phalanx dudes.
Yoko is at the Sonora bunker, pretty impossible to miss. You can get a quest from Akira in the lab at Magellan (behind the locked door) to find her and bring her back, but there might also be a non-quest-related option to convince her to return home. After she leaves the bunker, go back to the lab, witness the sappy anime reunion scene, get your cat ears, and then talk to Yoko and Akira, and then Yoko can join you.
Cheerful Jack is at the Abandoned Film Set location. There's a quest from a guy on the admin level of Magellan to find a newscaster and he'll point you to the film set. At the film set, after probably fighting a few robokids, you'll find Jack hanging out and drinking. Then hyenas will show up. Listen to Jack, stay the gently caress away from the car. It will eventually blow up (seemed to be during the last "wave" of hyenas, the ones with guns on their backs). Jack will go back to Magellan and if you talk to him there, you can ask him to join you.

Also, is there an Encased thread? It feels like a big enough game for its own thread.

edit: The first thing that happens after you leave the building in the City where you have the meeting with reps from the factions is that a guy stops you and tells you about Ursula, the train. He also marks the Quicksand location on your map (southwestern part of the dome, south of the Fops Camp), so there you go, OgNar. Now we can have sweet mobile bases!

Well, I guess I can't say for sure whether or not you get a damage increase if you pump up the regular weapons skills, but if it is the case, the effect is definitely not dramatic.

Although Crump seems to do more damage than his brass knuckles would indicate, so maybe it's melee/psionics versus firearms, which does make sense.

I switched to the Xbox One Afterglow controller when my last 360 one had button issues and I learned they no longer make them. D-pad is the same, but the shape of the controller is slightly different. I've had mine for a little over a year and so far its been good to me and its worked with every game out of the box.

8bitdo Pro 2 (or the no back buttons SN 30 Pro+) is pretty much the best controller I've tried, especially if a good d-pad is necessary. The 2 is a little back-ordered right now, though.

It was horribly mis-marketed. There is single player, it's good, the plot is incredibly Kojima, but if you try to play the slowest, seemingly safest way possible it's unfun and game journalists being game journalists ALL did this. It doesn't really hold your hand, it gives you tools and you have to experiment with them and learn how they work and use them.

The multiplayer is dead as gently caress but it's also a blast if you get a few people together for it.
