So I've watched or listened to pretty much everyone's Norm tribute, so I definitely don't need to see or hear any more of them, but I'm legitimately surprised that Colbert didn't do one. I mean, it's not required, but I guess I figured he'd have said something. Or did he, and I missed it?

I mean, it's not required, but I guess I figured he'd have said something. Or did he, and I missed it? He made a short comment after the first commercial break on whatever day it was that he first could've addressed it. But, as he himself pointed out, he didn't really know Norm as well as he would've liked to, so he didn't really feel qualified to say much more than that. At the other end of the spectrum, there's an entire special episode of Conan's podcast about Norm now. One of the most interesting things there is the revelation that the moth joke most likely happened just to fill time, since Norm was originally just going to have one segment, but the producer asked him to stay on a little longer that night. Which also reminds me, in the Joel McHale episode they revealed that they had to stop doing the Walker, Texas Ranger lever because there were rumblings that the actors from the show were going to start asking for residuals. Conan insisted that they should keep doing it just so that he could go to court, show a clip, and say "That is not acting." But his producers prevailed. You missed it. What I saw was brief, since they weren't close. He did talk about his short stint as a guest writer on SNL, and Norm took him under his wing.

Conan apparently had a field day at the Emmys mocking them for never giving him one. And he wasn't even on stage. Jon Oliver won and in his speech said he was rooting for Conan and thanked him for 30 years of inspiring writers.

Conan's final year was okay. I mean everyone was poo poo amid the pandemic, but his best bits were always going outdoors and getting into shenanigans. That said these awards are never about the actual content so they shoulda fuckin given it to Conan.

Years from now, a now old and cranky John Oliver will start a new comedic infotational series in which instead of deep diving into one main topic, he covers several topics, not unlike a traditional newscast. He'll even have correspondents who do remote segments. And one of those correspondents will take over when he decides to direct a movie no one will watch, and upon his return, the correspondent will field offers to have their own show, where they will deep dive into a single topic with a few extra jokey segments tossed in... by then, the proliferation of this cycle will be too big to stop.... tarlibone fucked around with this message at 15:56 on Sep 28, 2021 |

Welcome they do require reasons to cross roads. Most animals don't. That's probably why you see a lot more dead squirrels, skunks, deer, etc. than you do dead chickens who were struck while crossing the road. There are a million reasons for them to do it, and each chicken seems to have its own reason, and part of the phone is just guessing what that reason is... but they do have their reasons. Only a creature that contemplates its existence would search for a reason to do anything, especially cross a road. Another full week! As of last week, Corden has an audience again, and according what Seth said last Monday, his audience will return next week. So starts what will hopefully be the final week of shows without an audience. Monday, Fallon hosts Seth Meyers, and Thursday he brings on the hosts of The Kids Tonight Show, a show debuting on Unnamed Streaming Service October 14. It’s a kid-friendly version of The Tonight Show, which is what I thought Jimmy Fallon has been hosting since 2014, but here we are. Brian McCann will be the head writer.
