I felt pretty let down by the hype surrounding the issue at the time with it being written by Miller and art by McFarlane. Miller still had a lot of credit with me thanks to his earlier work with Daredevil and The Dark Knight Returns and Ronin. McFarlane's work was actually pretty good in this issue (he can be hit or miss with me). The companion comic released by DC the same year, Batman/Spawn:War Devil was so much better.
