Environmental Working Group posted:Lamb has the greatest impact, generating 39.3 kg (86.4 lbs) of carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2e) for each kilo eaten – about 50 percent more than beef. While beef and lamb generate comparable amounts of methane and require similar quantities of feed, lamb generates more emissions per kilo in part because it produces less edible meat relative to the sheep’s live weight

Pastry of the Year posted:Every thread in PYF will eventually experience its own food derail, but yeah, honestly, chain fast food in America has gotten both more expensive in the last 10 years and, in my opinion, demonstrably worse almost across the board. I find it kinda funny that I think McDonald's of all places has had the biggest turnaround lately with their push to on-demand cooking for the higher-priced burgs and such. I mean, they're still bottom tier, but the difference from a few years back is crazy.

I always kind of liked their cheese burgers, and it's been years since I've been at a McDonald's. Sometimes I get that craving

I love Popeye's in general but weirdly enough the worst chicken sandwich I've had was from one, just a Long John Silver's-esque grease soaked monstrosity. It was from a gas station location so there was probably less care. Also that meal was the capper to my Christmas 2019 trip home, so it was a very appropriate way to ring in 2020 and beyond.

Fun fact: when I was a kid, I (sort of) really liked McDonald's burgers, which was weird, because I didn't like the bread, I didn't like the meat, I thought the cheese had a funny texture. But I'd crave them periodically. It wasn't until I was well and truly a teenager that I learned that it was the pickles on the burger that I liked. Pickles on a burger aren't standard in Australia (or weren't in the '90s, at least), and McDonald's was the only place I'd ever had that. I started buying big jars of dill pickles that I stick on a sandwich occasionally, and haven't felt the need to go to a lovely chain restaurant since.

I don't know if it's true or not but McDonald's tastes saltier than other burgers and so yeah, even if the other parts of the burger aren't always that good I crave them more than other burgers. A body's craving for salt is powerful. It'll be like those random moments during the day where I suddenly feel like I have to crush an entire bag of potato chips.

Olde news? https://www.cnet.com/news/this-toilet-uses-butt-recognition-while-analyzing-your-poo-for-diseases/ They're currently trying to market music playing, lid lifting, nightlighting, seat warming, bidet integrated, autoflushing devices as smart toilets. The self cleaning feature could be nice, but there's still going to be condensation and dust collecting around hinges that it won't get, and it probably takes $50/yr of SmaertSafe detergent or something. I wonder how it responds to worshippers of the variety. Rick rolls them?

Sorry, your smart toilet company went out of business and turned off the servers. If the toilet can't phone home it's not a toilet anymore. Still part of a russian botnet tho. e: Russian botnet as a service: give us bitcoins and we will make up fake servers so all your orphaned IOT devices to phone home and work again.
