So as good as Industria is, I'm going to hold off continuing to play it until the next patch(s). There's no gamebreaking bugs that I've encountered, but a rather irritating graphical glitch related to the lighting. There's several threads about it on the Steam forums so I'm sure the devs will deal with it soon.

So a friend of mine last night got me to start playing Splitgate. I remember seeing preview clips for it a while ago and just assumed that it would be a throwback multi shooter that would DOA, but it's probably popular enough that you all have heard of it. It takes the feel of something like Halo's multiplayer, adds in Portal mechanics, and sets them in levels that feel like Unreal Tournament's. The gameplay is incredibly tight, but the thing that gives me the biggest nostalgia for old multiplayer shooters is that you can queue up for all kinds of mutator modes like Shotties & Snipers, or SWAT. These modes are also part of the basic progression and you can just choose to opt-in/opt-out for them in matchmaking, they're not just custom match modes. The matches are super short and there's little pause between matches (why did Quake Champions throw so much bullshit between gameplay). I ended up staying up until 3 in the morning playing it, which is something I haven't done in years.

Just went through both the levels on supplice difficulty. Weapons are nice enough, classic mechadon layouts that wind back on themselves and slowly unfurl like a puzzle box and really nice texture work. Biggest weakness right now is the enemy design. I have absolutely no clue who thought 'chaingunner with 3x the health and you have to wait and listen for their chaingun to spin down before peeking back out again or risk getting shredded for 30hp' was a good idea, but they seem to have their hand on the tiller. It slows gameplay down to a crawl and encourages chokepoint camping and extremely passive play.

I remember the lead dev made the excuse that they could not decrease the length of inter-match menus by even one second because of "engine limitations." Id and Beth-Zen never caught enough hell for that game's problems.

Every single one of my deaths was to those guys. They don't seem to have much of a pain chance, either, and the second map seems really ammo constrained.

These sprites are gorgeous, though.

trying to play Q:C is physically painful because it gives me blue balls in my fragging glands. Every time I'm approaching fragasim, the match ends. Then I have to sit around for several minutes with a throbbing frag-on before I'm allowed to get back to it, which by that point the adrenaline has given way to exhaustion while my fragging hand has gone limp and I'm just not in the mood anymore.

Always the same poo poo. It happened me with Age of Hell, and it happened again with Supplice. I forget I'm actually not playing in my copy of GZDoom with my mods, so 20 minutes later I die, and the game shows me the start of the level, because I forgot I didn't have the autosave mod!

How do I load a CON script with eDuke32? I want to load the one that removes the protozoid slimers because my skin crawls every time they attack me. I tried making a text file with the code in it from the OP and renaming it .CON but when I tried loading it via command line it gives me an error.

Yeah, I’m loving SplitGate at the moment too. Hard to describe why but it just feels like an early 2000s Multiplayer shooter. Just simple basic fun without all the bells and whistles that get in the way.

I really liked the cultic demo, great atmosphere and basic mechanics, and the weapons were all pretty fun. I really just wish that they'd differentiate the ammo pickups more, and provide more ammo/less health overall. The weapons are fun enough that I'd like to be able to use them.

eDuke32 doesn't really do "modular" code mods like ZDoom, so probably the easiest way is to create a file called EDUKE.CON (or open that file if the mod you're adding it to already exists) and adding the text "include NOSLIME.CON" to it in a text editor.

Supplice is Literally Just GZDoom, so you should be able to change the monitor with the console. Use "vid_listadapters" to get a list of your monitors with an accompanying number, then "vid_adapter (number)" to change monitor.

Alternatively, you can just pull supplice_demo.ipk3 out of the install and run it in your own nicely-configured GZDoom install, but keep in mind that the Marathon-style terminals will be bugged to gently caress in the latest stable GZDoom (4.7.0) so use the previous version (which the Steam download includes) or a devbuild.

I was going to comment I don't feel super good with things like Supplice being commercial products. It a (very cool) Doom megawad. It has the same powerups, the supercharge, the automap, the green armor, the replacements of lost souls... all ok when you do a Doom megawad, but if you are going to do the jump to commercial product, I expect being farther away of Doom.

I don't mean to be a dick but this is a very dumb reason to not just download a sub 1 gb demo and mess around with it to form an actual opinion. Yeah, Blood is clearly one of its influences but it doesn't really feel or play like Blood at all, it's definitely it's own thing. Give it a shot, the only thing you have to lose is like 30 minutes of your time.
