Ingame they are almost the same size, which given that I don't think I have ever seen a football pitch or a tennis court in person and very rarely on the TV feels wrong but I can't tell you for sure.

so even on a small football pitch almost 16 tennis courts giving 32 singles players or 64 doubles players.

A football pitch would have 22 players on the same area. Tennis is more space efficient and socialist than football.

It costs money to keep them alive. I've seen people here talking about US butchery being so mechanised that it takes a very specific size of animal too, so if they live too long they're too big to process, I don't know if that sort of thing applies here too.

Capitalism is a very rational and efficient system.

The radio was saying it's because their meat products become too large to meet supermarkets' requirements, so become unable to sell. If you're the kind of person that will buy a half pig then you'll be quids in this year.

You can have a very high energy game of football on a council tennis pitch with as many players as you have friends. The thread sound tonight is that rattling noise of a ball being hoofed at a loose chainlink fence.

My mother once got a small design award out of the blue for efficient use of space when designing a sporting facility.

She isn’t a designer or a sports person, what she did was get herself on to the local memorial hall committee so she could get her own badminton group preferential time slots over the drama club.

Anyway they needed someone to fix the sports area and no one wanted to do it and she lost the straws. What she did was have the area which was netball pitch width and half the size of a football pitch length flattened, tarmaced and then had multiple markings put down for all sorts of sports but in different colours. Iirc it was netball, tennis, cricket nets and practice area, kiddies football, kiddies hockey.

'The local farmer down the street' is not a thing in many places and even if it was, your small farm shop won't be able to stock enough to supply everyone. Most of the local butchers, greengrocers, pharmacists and bakers near me open 9-5 six days a week and don't offer delivery. Best of luck to anyone working full time who has to fight over the last carrot or pint of milk on a Satuday afternoon.

My suspicion is that its a just-in-time supply chain issue - they are constantly breeding and birthing pigs and only have a certain capacity to look after them, so the pigs of a certain age have to 'leave' one way or another.

The thing that's amazing is that they're framing it as being sad the animals have to be killed, when if this os right they were heading to be killed anyway. They just aren't going to be food afterwards because we outsourced all of the processing to europe and there's no capacity to do it hygenically here.

Absolutely the most efficient system etc.

The Gardo's take bends over backwards not to imply that Blair is tax dodging:

https://www.theguardian.com/news/2021/oct/03/pandora-papers-biggest-ever-leak-of-offshore-data-exposes-financial-secrets-of-rich-and-powerful posted:

Not everyone named in the Pandora papers is accused of wrongdoing. The leaked files reveals that Tony and Cherie Blair saved £312,000 in property taxes when they purchased a London building partially owned by the family of a prominent Bahraini minister.

The former prime minister and his wife bought the £6.5m office in Marylebone by acquiring a British Virgin Islands (BVI) offshore company. While the move was not illegal, and there is no evidence the Blairs proactively sought to avoid property taxes, the deal highlights a loophole that has enabled wealthy property owners not to pay a tax that is commonplace for ordinary Britons.
